psycorob Posted April 25, 2014 #1 Posted April 25, 2014 Hi all. Just picked up my new 13 Venture after a long bout with a Tour Deluxe. Great bike and no complaints. First question for those with the knowledge. What the heck is the iSimple audio interface for and is it already installed on my bike? Talked with my dealer about and he hadn't even heard of it before and had no idea what I was talking about. Supposed to look into it for me but I'm hoping someone here can help me out. Thanks from a new rider in West Tennessee. Rob
Peder_y2k Posted April 25, 2014 #2 Posted April 25, 2014 iSimple is a Premium Factory Radio Interface for iPod, iPhone or iPad, Android and Other Smartphones -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA
playboy Posted April 25, 2014 #3 Posted April 25, 2014 It's the first modern thing to come on a Venture since 1999. Don't have one but what it does is it allows you to hook your I pod and play music through the bikes audio. It' standard equipment since 2012 I think may be just the 2013. Should be able to switch audio to aux and use it and control it through audio control on handle bars.
SilvrT Posted April 25, 2014 #4 Posted April 25, 2014 It's the first modern thing to come on a Venture since 1999. What about the CD player? (OK, maybe that wasn't "modern" LOL)
Neil86 Posted April 25, 2014 #5 Posted April 25, 2014 They are typically installed in the left saddlebag..... this thread discusses it http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63049
djh3 Posted April 26, 2014 #6 Posted April 26, 2014 I-simple was what replaced the big ole CD player in the left saddlebag. One is available from Yamaha with their part numbers. Its a pricey SOG. But what with a yamaha PN aint. I have been to their site (I_simple) and they have some available for the "c-bus" or whatever the CD player plug is on the 2nd Gen. they are significantly less than the Yamaha price, but not completely sure which one a fellow would order. Besides I dont own an I anything so it hadnt really sparked my interest. And I believe someone previous was correct. In about 2012 models it was standard vs the CD player.
EtRider Posted April 26, 2014 #7 Posted April 26, 2014 Rob, My 2013 came with it in the left saddlebag. Also included was the actual IPOD with the "STAR" logo on it which plugs into it so you can somewhat control the Ipod from the handlebars. If you bought new- it should be included from the dealer. Ed
psycorob Posted April 26, 2014 Author #8 Posted April 26, 2014 Thanks for the all replies. Ed, the only thing in my left saddlebag is the cable that I'm assuming is also for the CD changer. Got the Ipod but not the branded one. They didn't have those so they gave me a 16gb plain jane touch instead.
EtRider Posted April 26, 2014 #9 Posted April 26, 2014 They replaced the Cd with the Ipod in the last couple years. As long as you got the Ipod and you can hook it up in the saddle bag, that should be it. If you need it for anything , the Yamaha # Audio set kit- 1BM-H81C0-V2 is on the box I got. Hope this helps and Enjoy your new ride.

Yamaha shipped it separately to his parts dept. It comes with an yamaha engraved ipod touch , a small box mounted in the left side bag with an ipod cord. Now we ran a cord out and to my back seat passenger and hook my wife's iphone 5 to it and it works awesome. If you leave the ipod on it will kill your battery so remove , turn off or unplug when not in use for several days.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted April 27, 2014 #11 Posted April 27, 2014 They didn't have those so they gave me a 16gb plain jane touch instead. Makes me wonder if someone at the dealer 'borrowed' the one with the Yamaha name on it....
