pick Posted April 25, 2014 #1 Posted April 25, 2014 My 07 venture trunk lid, both screws fell out that attach the latch to the left side. I can get to the top one with nom problem, but the bottom one is completely covered up by the closer? How do you move the flat bar out of the way so you can get to both screws?
eusa1 Posted April 25, 2014 #2 Posted April 25, 2014 if your carful you can pry that tin cover off of the top and get everything apart and snap the cover back on when done.
V7Goose Posted April 26, 2014 #3 Posted April 26, 2014 You simply remove the pin from the top of the strut where it connects to the lid, then it will pivot out of the way. Goose
pick Posted June 10, 2014 Author #4 Posted June 10, 2014 Sorry for the delay, Thanks Goose!!!!! Never saw that! Of course next time I will put a piece of tape over the hinge where the c-clip fell soon as it popped out!!!!! Quick drop of loctite and we're good. Love this forum!
bongobobny Posted June 10, 2014 #5 Posted June 10, 2014 Oh Oh!!! Loctite near plastic spells disaster...
djh3 Posted June 10, 2014 #6 Posted June 10, 2014 Yea a small dab of RTV works and wont kill the plastics.
pick Posted June 10, 2014 Author #7 Posted June 10, 2014 Just used a bit on the inside to the trunk lid for the closer bracket. I also found out that the little screws that attach the saddle bag to the trim and lid work loose often, did a dab of loctite on them too, but again, on the inside of the trunk and saddlebags.
M61A1MECH Posted June 10, 2014 #8 Posted June 10, 2014 Loctite should not be used on or near any type of plastic especially ABS, like the plastic on the Ventures. Just the fumes can cause the plastic to stress crack and crumble.
IronMike Posted June 10, 2014 #9 Posted June 10, 2014 I removed that stupid thing and put some parachute chord as a support niw my lid leans back rightvand I dont.worry about it catching all the.time. I tossed that part in the bin.
