cowpuc Posted April 25, 2014 #1 Posted April 25, 2014 Late last night Tippy and I had to run look at another Shovelhead,, the markets been strong on the resale of them this year (this would have been our 11th one this winter) so when the guy called we ran.. Bike didnt work out (had major issues), came home, looked in the mailbox and there was a box in there... Got in the house,, thinking it was probably a Birthday gift from one of the kids (yep,, still playing pranks on their OLD man) I gazed at the label.. NOPE,, wasnt from them,,,, it was from the people who I aquired the WLA War Bike from... I suspiciously looked at Tippy and said,, "Tippy,, did you tell those folks I had a Birthday coming up" (she can be tricky like that,,, fine lady but always pullin the wool over my eyes)? No she says,, hmmm says I.. Opened the package and about FELL TO THE GROUND!!! There inside was a BEAUTIFUL pair of Georges Fathers flight goggles that he wore in WW2!!! I balled,, I couldnt believe it!! Along with them was a beautifully written note of how much they appreciated us and thought that if anyone would appreciate the old goggles I would.. Of course, I immediately went about sending them an email (while I was doing that, Tippy was ratting me out on here about my birthday) thanking them and also letting them know of their impeccable timing for getting the goggles here - totally one UNBELIEVABLE Birthday!! On a side note,, back when we were leaving Georges house with the bike,, we had gotten about 1/2 mile from their home and George called my cell phone to let me know I had left my glasses there... I told him my glasses were freebie reading glasses from Menards - 3 power - he could keep em or toss em,, got dozens of em.. Then I told him,,, now if that were a pair of your Dads old WW2 Goggles it would be a different story,, for those I would ride my bike all the from Sacramento California to get,,,,,,,, guess my new friend took me seriously and wanted to save me 3 days of riding :rotf:
