Question for Cowpuc or anyone else.

Got a lead on a Suzuki RV 125cc year ???

Guy tells it is a rare bike. It is street legal with h.lite sig lites brake lite. 5 speed trans. with 2 speed gear box, motor was done a few years ago. New piston rings all brg. gaskets. Had it running 2 years ago.

Thinking of buying it to resell.

How much should pay for it to make a profit?

Or am I wasting my time??

Ride safe, Bob

PS was always stored inside, looks good.

Yooooo bigbob,, wassup...

One of my daughters grew up on a RV125,, green one, rode the socks off it,, really fun little bike.. She was short legged compared to the other kids so it fit her well.. Those things ride like a giant marshmellow,, a real blast!!

Have also bought/sold a number of them over the years.. Tops on resale for me, as I recall, was 1800 bucks but that was for a spotless turgoise (90) that had just over 300 original miles on it and back before this stupid recession. It also still had the little hand pump that hung under the frame tube above the engine, original paper work, tool kit, blinkers and ran perfect..

I noticed a pair of them recently up north of us for 300 bucks each, passed on em cause ROI on my trail bike sales has really shrunk last few years..

About the one your lookin at,, those ol Suzy's like to loose crank seals and suck air - destroys top ends,, just ask him what seals he replaced and see if he mentions em.. Also, the primary shaft (behind the front sprocket) takes a whoopin pretty good,, see if its got any oil gathering in that area.. Tires aint cheap for em cause of their size..

Nowadays, I would probably steer clear of a nice clean one above a few hundred bucks and, if I bought it I would expect to sell for 7 to 9 with a little savvy but its always a risk.. Would be sticky above that..

All my dealings were with the 70's 125/90 two strokes,, if memory serves me correctly,, they were all 4 speed boxes x2 givin em an 8 speed gearbox, not 5 speeds.. They arent really that rare as they made a lot of them - early 70's all the way thru the 70's,,, maybe even into the 80's.. Seems like if there were any collectability to em it would be the real early ones.. His title should tell ya year,, if no title google and engine/frame number and you can find out.. If nothing else,, if its stock color tell me what color it is and I can probably hit er pretty close.. Got lots of old brochures that I can double check..

On the the other hand,,,, I think Suzy re-introed the RV in a late model,, thinking it was a 4 stroker,, know NOTHING about em,, have never even seen one (I see a LOT of bikes, if I see one I have never seen before my interest pick up),, perhaps that is the type your looking at?? If it is one of the 4 strokes,, possibly only made a couple years,, than yea,, I smell the potential for some collectibilty there...

Best wishes on the flip if ya go there!!:thumbsup2:
