This is a manufactured hitch but you can see the parts. Click on the picture beside the "Yamaha Midnight Venture 2006"

Consider where the safety chains connect to the hitch. You want them accessible and not tucked under the fender. The hitch above looks like it has an "eye" to attach the chains but I don't think one mounting point would be a good idea. If you spread them out or put them on either side of the receiver would probably be better for stability in event of a failure.

I have an R-Mark hitch and when you remove the ball end there is very little visible of the receiver. http://r-markventures.blogspot.ca/2009/09/yamaha-royal-star-venture-tour-deluxe.html

Larry (Carbon One) makes a lot of great products and has a hitch. If you look at the pictures you can see what little of the receiver shows on a "normal" hitch. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3919&title=rsv26amp-3b-rstd-trailer-hitch&cat=24

Hey Don, thanks for the info. That hide a hitch wouldn't be hard to fabricate. That one visible hitch is only $125 and a guy can't hardly make one for that. I may go ahead and make that hidden version and like you said, I will have separate chain hookups. I really appreciate your feedback.
