bill4you502 Posted April 17, 2014 #1 Posted April 17, 2014 Hey folks, anyone know of a good mechanic in the Louisville, KY area? Not happy with the local dealer; had a clutch plate replaced in Daytona by Yamaha dealer; they charged at least 1/2 of what dealer here would charge............also, have '06 RSV with 37,000 miles and I don't think the valves have ever been adjusted.....................advice?????
etcswjoe Posted April 17, 2014 #2 Posted April 17, 2014 I did not do my valves till 48K and a couple were out just far enough to replace so you are probably good for awhile longer. I used Yamaha of Louisville when I had work done out there so I guess I am no help on the mechanic issue.
Cruiser1021 Posted April 17, 2014 #3 Posted April 17, 2014 North on I-65 at Seymour, In. is Dan's. I use them from time to time. Haven't had any trouble with them but I don't know how his prices compare.
RedRider Posted April 17, 2014 #4 Posted April 17, 2014 Relative to the clutch, there are few easier things to do yourself. Valves, they will require some wrenching confidence. RR
utadventure Posted April 17, 2014 #5 Posted April 17, 2014 Get a hold of Bob Meyers, he's in that area and I'm sure knows the right people.
ksptrooper Posted April 17, 2014 #6 Posted April 17, 2014 Try Chris at Shelby Cycle in Shelbyville. He is pretty damn good. Just outside of Louisville.
bill4you502 Posted April 18, 2014 Author #7 Posted April 18, 2014 Thank, kytrooper. I work in Shelbyville a couple days a week. I'll look him up!!

Bill, I have heard zero problem with Chris, he is not the quickest guy in the world but that happens when you charge less than and do better work than other folks, you get busy and can't keep up. Call him up, he is good people.
