Hi all,

I finally picked up the Venture, and it is everything I thought it would be...

But now it's time to wash it, and it might sound like a silly question, but I have to ask:

What about hosing it down with the speaker grills being open like they are? I guess it'll be ok, but I need to ask....

Thanks

They are supposed to e water resistant. That said, I don't throw heay pressure in any of my bike speakers. I hose down from the top like it would hget in a rain storm but not directl;y into the grille.

I use something like S100 or bike brite. Spray down cold engine etc and spray off. For the faring etc with the speakers I just wipe off with a micro fiber towel. I dont spray water directly at them either.

Thanks, that what I figured ... common sense. OK

As for washing yours... sure ... but I'm a 409 and Pledge guy. If that doesn't bother you come on down. :cool10:

lets just say after towing the trike home in a snow storm requires some very deep cleaning. I hit the speakers with direct water pressure to flush out any salt that may have gotten in there. they still work just fine.

Unless a previous owner put cheap paper-cone speakers in there, they will tolerate normal water incursion...they have plastic cones. Mylar I think.

But I dont spray high pressure water in there, because THAT might damage them (or the screens) and the injected water will also enter the internal area of the fairing.

Same idea around some other areas...water spray is OK...water under pressure from a nozzle...not a good idea.

Sensitive areas include: wheel bearings, brake calipers, neck bearings, electrical connectors, swingarm bearings, rear shock bushings...ignition components including the key switch, and of course, the radio controller.

Water entering the exhaust pipes could cause rust in the mufflers.

All of these things are more or less water resistant...but I would not force a water jet into them with a pressure hose.
