cmiwelder Posted April 14, 2014 #1 Posted April 14, 2014 I am the proud new owner of an 05 RSTD with 3100 miles. The bike is beautiful and I love it. What things should I check/scrutinize ? I purchased it for 5,000. It runs great but will stall with the choke all the way in. It also pops slightly on deceleration. I've had it for three days now and have put about 300 miles on it. Thank you all for helping.
steamer Posted April 14, 2014 #3 Posted April 14, 2014 sea foam treatment, sync carb, check air filters and fuel filter.
steamer Posted April 14, 2014 #4 Posted April 14, 2014 also drain the tank and check for rust. this bike has been sitting more then riding over the years. replace all fluids, clutch, brake, cooling, rear end grease and lube. if original tires, I would change them.

cmiwelder Posted April 14, 2014 Author #7 Posted April 14, 2014 Thanks for the fast replies. Should I get a factory or aftermarket repair manual?
steamer Posted April 14, 2014 #8 Posted April 14, 2014 you can view the manuals right here in the tech section. they are for the rsv but its mostly the same bike mechanically.
billmac Posted April 15, 2014 #9 Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) I have a Clymer book at the back is a supplement section 25 pages for the 05 and up RSTD. Edited April 15, 2014 by billmac
RandyR Posted April 15, 2014 #10 Posted April 15, 2014 There should be a link to the RSTD specific stuff in the Tech Section. That said, I agree that one of the Clymer books is handy to have in hand.
cmiwelder Posted April 17, 2014 Author #11 Posted April 17, 2014 Thanks, I will, heed the advice. Also just ordered a Clymer manual. Does anyone know where I can buy an owner's manual?
Phoneman1981 Posted April 17, 2014 #12 Posted April 17, 2014 Congrats. We like our 05 RSTD. You came to the right place for help. More knowledge than any one dealer could ever have. 3K miles wow. 15k on ours when we purchased it. Now has 50K,
