mike042 Posted April 13, 2014 #1 Posted April 13, 2014 anyone know what this wire might go to? I went to pull battery today and there is a white with re stripe wire that was just wrapped around positive post screw.
dingy Posted April 13, 2014 #2 Posted April 13, 2014 anyone know what this wire might go to? I went to pull battery today and there is a white with re stripe wire that was just wrapped around positive post screw. My guess would be the sensor that was in the stock battery to check acid level. If there isn't a resistor installed in that circuit, I am surprised it hasn't fried the CMU. Gary
mike042 Posted April 13, 2014 Author #3 Posted April 13, 2014 mmm ok don't know about tha resister ill have to trace wire I bought bike about 3 yrs ago and this is battery put in by po ( walmart batt, and lasted this long ?) but ive had no troubles with warning lights or any other major problems with bike since I got it guess he must have known about putting resistor in
MiCarl Posted April 13, 2014 #4 Posted April 13, 2014 I think Gary is right about the wire. As I recall the battery sensor is white with red stripe. Disconnect it. If the battery warning comes on we'll know for sure.
Prairiehammer Posted April 13, 2014 #5 Posted April 13, 2014 The 'low battery water level' warning will not flash if the sensor wire is hooked to 12 volts, but if there is not a 2K ohm to 20K ohm (opinions vary on what the correct resistor value is) resistor in line from the 12 volt source to the CMS, you will run the risk of damage to the CMS from the excessive voltage.
mike042 Posted April 13, 2014 Author #6 Posted April 13, 2014 ok thanks guys ill be sure to get resistor on there when battery comes in.
KIC Posted April 14, 2014 #7 Posted April 14, 2014 Here is a write up on the procedure. It is fast and easy.
mike042 Posted April 15, 2014 Author #8 Posted April 15, 2014 thanks a lot guys info was just what was needed... also does anyone know the part# or where I can find the rubber grommet where the hook under the false tank cover hooks onto mine dried out and broke.
MiCarl Posted April 15, 2014 #9 Posted April 15, 2014 26H-21747-00-00 DAMPER Not Available #22 in the side cover fiche. Looks like you'll have to find a used one or improvise.
