buddy Posted April 13, 2014 #2 Posted April 13, 2014 WOW what a deal !!!! Now I'm gonna go back to my corner and cry
cowpuc Posted April 13, 2014 Author #4 Posted April 13, 2014 VERY tempting!!! Yea,, I know Bobby,,, and its less than 3 hours from me,,, sure had me scratching my bald head... Did you guys noticed that it has some kind of an electric shift mechanism... Wonder what thats all about,, must be a solenoid set up somehow... That could be a very special deal for just the right person.. Pretty cool really...
bongobobny Posted April 13, 2014 #5 Posted April 13, 2014 The company that made that particular conversion is out of business. To me the thing would be worth it just for the conversion kit. Presently there is only one kit, triwing for 1st gen, at twice the price of the bike. Wanna store it for me for a few months???
cowpuc Posted April 14, 2014 Author #6 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) The company that made that particular conversion is out of business. To me the thing would be worth it just for the conversion kit. Presently there is only one kit, triwing for 1st gen, at twice the price of the bike. Wanna store it for me for a few months??? Well,, heres the way its shaking out Bongo.. I spoke with the guy who is selling the bike yesterday. I got the full story of the bikes background, it belonged to an employee of his who is terminally ill. She was disabled and rode the bike with pride, it was her baby.. Been setting for a few years and now has clutch issues and of course, IMHO, will need at least a carb cleaning.. He is suppose to be sending me more pics of the entire bike.. Apparently the build was built by a company out of Washington, he is suppose to get me that info too.. I have a friend who has a disabled vet buddy who hasnt ridden in years because of his disabilitys.. I mentioned this bike to my buddy with the thought of buying it and bringing it back to life for his disabled buddy and he was all about it.. I dont have the means to haul it, Larry (my buddy) has volunteered his time/truck/trailer and to cover the hauling expenses to bring it home.. Its my busy season right now (sold 3 bikes over the weekend, 2 HD's going to England and a Honda SL350 - today I am suppose to be handling the paperwork on this 1970 HD cop bike - its going to LA).. After the smoke clears a little here, probably tomorrow sometime, Larry and I intend to make the trip down to New Buffalo to look at the trike.. Bongo, if it appears more of a project than I/we want to get involved in for his disabled buddy, and its not in really bad shape,, I will drag it home and let you know and give you first dibs on it!! Storage is no problem, it can set here all summer.. Gonna be an interesting week here... Puc Edited April 14, 2014 by cowpuc
bongobobny Posted April 14, 2014 #7 Posted April 14, 2014 Cool!!! Yes, the company that did that conversion went under. If your buddy's friend wants it by all means let him have it! My plans were/are to remove the conversion and put it on my '84. My '84 has been going through a slow but thorough restoration as it only has 18,000 miles on it (long story, when I bought it there was less than 8000 miles) and I'm doing a Dingy to the engine, Vmax heads, Vboost and rebuilding a MK2 engine so it has the extra power to be a trike. It would probably be better to keep that trike as is, especially with it's history. I would be honored to pass on this deal to a person who served his country with pride!

Just another way to say thank you to those who served!!
cowpuc Posted April 14, 2014 Author #9 Posted April 14, 2014 Ok,, another step in this journey that someone here may be able to help with.. Has anyone owned or had any exposure to this particular trike build.. If I do this I would HATE to build up something that is gonna cause grief for someone who has already been thru enough grief.. I spoke with the guy selling it and he believes it is a straight axle model.. I have not been around trikes at all and know NOTHING of which is quality and which is not.. I do know, from business experience, that I do not want to get involved with any of the present "Chinese" differential stuff but I have a hunch that with this ones age it is probably clear of that.. Bongo mentioned that the company is now defunct.. Any thoughts on if the guy we are doing this for does need rear end parts in the future are they accessible... Any input is appreciated!! Thanks in advance Puc
RedRider Posted April 14, 2014 #10 Posted April 14, 2014 When you are in New Buffalo - http://www.redamaks.com/ You won't forget it. Best hamburger evah. RR
bongobobny Posted April 14, 2014 #11 Posted April 14, 2014 Puc, their build was a good as anyone else, and they used a Ford 7 1/2" rear end I think. There should be no issues with it... Due to the fact the company folded, there aren't a lot of them out there.
