Groatski Posted April 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2014 Hello, One thing I've been really missing on my 2000 Venture is a way to tell time and the outside temperature. I've found on line a number of attractive, affordable aftermarket handlebar and windshield mountable clocks and thermometers, but I can't tell how they would fit. Does anyone have a style or brand that they've used?
Guest tx2sturgis Posted April 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2014 My 2007 has a built-in digital clock, I assume yours does too. As far as the temp, there a lot of options, all kinds of digital units with probes and ice warnings and min/max memories. They all have varying degrees of ruggedness and waterproofing...not to mention battery life. I have found that the k.i.s.s. principle works pretty well... A good quality Formotion stick-on clock, attached to a mirror, works pretty well. Its in the breeze so it picks up the ambient temps as you ride, and works fine after dark when stationary. In the daytime, the sun will heat it up when parked, but dont worry, its not REALLY 140 degrees.
djh3 Posted April 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 11, 2014 Last year I was in Leesburg and saw a Venture with a thermometer in the lower corner of the windshield. Looked something like this from autozone.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted April 11, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 11, 2014 I have a clock that will mount on the front brake reservoir, it would look good but then I learned how to bring up the stock digital clock. push and hold the select button on the dash by the fuel gauge, presto a clock. temperature... auto zone or similar or you can buy Yamaha accessory for the handle bar. yamahasportsplaza.com go to OEM accessories.... Star OEM accessories.... select your year.... have fun Then you will find this..... http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemcatalogs/p/yamaha_motorcycle_cruiser_2001_royal_star_venture/star_accessories-billet_chrome/4ff76af9f870022970e61e1e/dual-split-ring-mount-by-marlins-white among other wonderful things. :mo money: :mo money:

Bones158 Posted April 11, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 11, 2014 This is what I've been using for a few years now. It is not water proof but it has been soaked a few times and come right back after drying out. Originally I had it mounted with Velcro on the riser caps and during the winter I removed our great cassette player and installed it there. Has the clock, volt meter and outside temp. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/5-in-1-digital-volt-meter/part/BBP-4-239 http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/image_7475.jpg
djh3 Posted April 11, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 11, 2014 Well I would have to say the $30 bucks is a lot easier to choke down then $100. Say does the $30 one require running wires etc. I would think it does being it has a volt meter and battery condition.
aharbi Posted April 11, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 11, 2014 You can spend a bunch of money depending on what you want. Here is a picture of mine, clock on the left, thermometer on the right. These are made by Marlins I also have some by Formotion which I prefer but they are on another bike, same style - chrome, white dial, waterproof, handlebar mount. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/aharbi/Odessa%20Ride/OdessaRide099-20140228-174908.jpg
