KISA Posted April 7, 2014 #1 Posted April 7, 2014 Grief at me. The engine gives out 4500 turns, and further - a cut-off. TCI-Ignitech, COP-CBR 929. I broke to myself a brain ( PS Sorry, with search in English at me it is bad.
RedRider Posted April 7, 2014 #2 Posted April 7, 2014 KISA, Sounds like there is a rev limiter set in the TCI control. As I have never worked with these units, someone will jump on here and provide details. RR P.S. Your English is much better than my Russian.
greg_in_london Posted April 7, 2014 #3 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Silly questions maybe, but: Have you checked the air inlet / air filter is not blocked ? Have you checked that all four exhausts are getting hot (could be an electrical problem, or one carburettor may be malfunctioning. Does the engine operate normally to 4,500, or like a sick dog ? There are people who know those ignition units who may give better answers, but they will need more information I expect. Edited April 7, 2014 by greg_in_london
GeorgeS Posted April 7, 2014 #4 Posted April 7, 2014 Pull out all four spark plugs, What do they look like???? One or two will most likely be black, and covered with carbon. this will tell you which one or two cylinders is not fireing correctly . Start engine " cold " and after about 45 seconds, shut it down, Feel the exhaust pipes on each cylinder !! The " Cold One " is Not Fireing. Most likely you have a problem with that cylinder, Change the Spark plug. Drain the Carburator for that cylinder. Has your fuel filter ever been changed ???? Maby its plugged. Drain, ALL 4 Carburator Bowls. !! Each has a drain hose, and Valve to drain it !! Have you ever Completely drained your fuel tank ??? If not, Completely drain the tank at the Petcock, and Start with clean fuel, !! These tanks collect water in bottom of tank, !! Let us know what you find during these checks !!
GaryZ Posted April 7, 2014 #5 Posted April 7, 2014 I would check for holes in the carb diaphragms. Remove the air cleaner and watch the carb slides operate with the engine running. All the slides should move when you move the throttle.
jasonm. Posted April 8, 2014 #6 Posted April 8, 2014 if it revs slowly to 4500 and just does not pull. Then the carb diaphragms are the issue. I had the same thing on my '83...my 1st venture. If it revs in the 1st 3 gears quickly...then shutters...the TCI is bad or the multiple slides have seperated from the diaphragm. Look thru the air box filter removed and rev it slowly. any slides not moving ?
KISA Posted April 11, 2014 Author #7 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) 4 cylinders work all. For some reason on the 3rd drive it turned out to untwist the engine to 6000 turns... I removed the air filter - everything moves. It is necessary to come out to the route. To be continued... Edited April 11, 2014 by KISA
Ozlander Posted April 11, 2014 #8 Posted April 11, 2014 I think he said that if he lets up on the throttle, it will rev to 6000. And he had to go someplace and will be back.
KISA Posted May 17, 2014 Author #10 Posted May 17, 2014 Today I came out to the highway.... I couldn't overcome a boundary of speed of 130 km/h on different transfers. On the 5th cut-off in 4500, on 4 in 5000, on 3 about 6000 turns. The air filter at me of UNI, is impregnated with oil without special fanaticism. Dear, probably the problem is connected about cruise control? I never used it and I don't know, whether it works in general.
KISA Posted June 1, 2014 Author #11 Posted June 1, 2014 The problem is solved. There were no 2 jets in 2 carburetors. On dispersal gasoline filled in cylinders.
Huggy Posted June 1, 2014 #12 Posted June 1, 2014 Kisa I have a question regarding your 86 VR did you install the MAP sensor you purchased from Finland if so how did you install it?
KISA Posted June 4, 2014 Author #13 Posted June 4, 2014 The sensor is installed, but not connected. Slowly I look for the laptop. I want precisely setting the working range of the sensor. While I go with the standard sensor and the factory IAP parameters. All conversations here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40414&page=25
Huggy Posted June 4, 2014 #14 Posted June 4, 2014 OK thank Kisa will be following the thread with great interest. I'm not that far along with my rebuild. Going with COP's since my bike is all apart.
