Guest black knight Posted March 6, 2008 #1 Posted March 6, 2008 Hi everyone, is there some secret to taking off the bar end weights? I thought I should ask before I twisted with too much force and ended up doing some damage.
bill04 Posted March 6, 2008 #2 Posted March 6, 2008 Black Knight , all you have to do is remove the small chromed plastic caps at the ends and then you will see were to put an allen key , just unscrew , et voila ,, easy , don't break anything
Guest black knight Posted March 6, 2008 #3 Posted March 6, 2008 Thanks, I did take off the end cap and tried all the allen keys in my tool kit and none of them fit, thanks for the help, I will take another look.
BradT Posted March 6, 2008 #4 Posted March 6, 2008 I believe they would be Metric, so maybe you need to invest in more tools. Not a total loss. BRad
Jethroish Posted March 6, 2008 #5 Posted March 6, 2008 Thanks, I did take off the end cap and tried all the allen keys in my tool kit and none of them fit, thanks for the help, I will take another look. Should be an 8mm.
Ferrantelli Posted March 6, 2008 #6 Posted March 6, 2008 Don't use an allen key:no-no-no:, get yourself an allen 3/8 drive socket set. After all the bike is metric:).
Guest black knight Posted March 6, 2008 #7 Posted March 6, 2008 Well folks, there is no need for an allen key, the end is threaded and they just turn out and off, once I took a good look at the end in some good light I realized that the inside did not have an allen head or any other kind of tooled head, grab and turn, done deal, and as far as the need for tools, I have lots, thanks.

Man I don't want to pee you off but unless you have a Venture that was made in America the end weights have an allen head cut into them. Either that or the rest of us are not riding a RSV 2nd. gen. Glade you got them off ok.
