I am not real happy with the covered switch used for the driving lights, as well as it's location. Has anyone relocated that switch to the handlebar area to make it easier to turn the lights on and off?

Pics would be good if available.

Thanks.

I rewired my passing lamps. The PO had spliced the headlight wire so bad that only 3-4 strands of wire remained. I rewired it with a new headlight pigtail connector. I now have my passing lamps wired to a relay off the battery under the seat. I used the white 12vdc "spare plug" to power the relay and mounted a very small toggle switch under the seat thru the plastic backing. The switch turns the power on/off to the relay and hence the passing lamps. It is easy to reach with my left hand - like scratching my butt.

I don't know about most other people but I leave mine on all the time--much better to be seen!

Yup!

I will be relocating it soon to the Kuryakin 3 switch pod that goes on top of the master cylinder.

Will use one switch for the driving lamps, one for a set of visibility lights on my front fender and will have a spare for future use. Switch will be running direct from battery through a relay. Fused at 30 amps from battery, then each switch has a 10 amp fuse. Will be tackling this project soon and will be posting pics.

I rewired mine to work through a relay - the original set up had one of those "Scotch Lock" connectors or whatever and the lights started malfunctioning shortly after I bought the bike. I have since cut a small opening in the chrome gas cap / ignition switch surround and installed a lighted switch so that I can turn them off if for some reason I find myself having to start the bike in a low battery situation.

Yup! Same setup! One for the "passing lamps" one for additional driving lamps, and the third had a couple of uses but is currently unused. The switches are powered from the ignition and I use them to power the relays for the different lamps. Reiny, you can pretty much put any switch wherever you want to! Come down when the weather is better and I will be glad to help you out! My facebook picture needs to be updated anyway...

Thanks for input guys....Bobby.....you know my electical abilities are somewhere between slim and none so I may just take you up on that offer my friend. Will let you know.

I want to do a day-trip to Buffalo this summer...was there Monday and I saw a sign about a new Cabela's opening this summer and very close to that is a Longhorn Steakhouse.....two good reasons for a ride to Buffalo! Wil let you know if/when that happens....maybe we can grab a bite together.

Here's what I did. I installed an illuminated switch just left of the left speaker location.
