Sailor Posted April 5, 2014 #26 Posted April 5, 2014 Actually It was the native indians who made a big difference in the war of 1812. When they went to war it was total take no prisoners ....man, woman or child....war and they scared anyone going up against them. Because they were already here do they qualify as the first Canadians even though it wasn't called Canada at the time?

If ol Crazy Horse or Sitting Bull would have been in charge of North America when 9/11 happened they would probably would have started at one side of Afganistan and went to the other... :stickpoke:
arejay Posted April 5, 2014 #28 Posted April 5, 2014 So when I watch that it says more to me about Americans than Canadians.....
Dragonslayer Posted April 7, 2014 Author #29 Posted April 7, 2014 Ya, Canadians are just the TOUGHER Americans!!!!! ALL the wimpy ones move south because they weren't tough enough to deal with black flies and snow!!!!! You got that right.... and proud to be among the smarter Americans
SilvrT Posted April 7, 2014 #31 Posted April 7, 2014 Ya, Canadians are just the TOUGHER Americans!!!!! ALL the wimpy ones move south because they weren't tough enough to deal with black flies and snow!!!!! Compared to our weather here on the Wet Coast of Canuckland, I'd say many of you 'mericans south of the border are not the wimpy ones considering the kind of severe weather systems y'all have been experiencing!
Bert2006 Posted April 7, 2014 #32 Posted April 7, 2014 EH! We have snow and a few rain storms and the rare hurricane on the east coast. Will take that above tornados, hurricanes and other stuff you guy's deal with south of the border year long, but man this past winter has been a long one. Retiring in 8 years and looking into the snowbird options for us in either Florida or Arizona:cool10:
Flyinfool Posted April 7, 2014 #33 Posted April 7, 2014 For all those people that don't feel that your representatives actually represent you and your state PLEASE feel free to vote their worthless a$$e$ out of office and start over with people of the people by the people. Since free speech is a right I won't bore you with my address because the guys in black are about to nock at my door as soon as I click send. yours truley Flyingfool Ya know,, if it comes to that point I would like to see the process of voting to include a web page where we would log in, monitor current bills/legislation, vote directly on the legislation being discussed and than the PEOPLES voting results would be given to their Reps to instruct the Reps on how the PEOPLE expect them to vote.. Then,, if the Rep votes contrary to the his constituents wishes he MUST explain why he voted against the PEOPLES wishes (answers to the PEOPLE).. I have been saying this for a long time and now that our Politicians have web management almost figured out it only makes sense that they put their knowledge about it to good use,, like turning the country back over to We the People... Sign me FlyinFool too will ya,, summers almost here and its not a good time to be hauled off and locked up,,, now that Flyinfool,, that'll teach em..:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Sheesh, the one time I behave myself........ I still get dragged in kicking and screaming. But I do vote in every single election no matter how small the issues or insignificant the office. I had that lesson early in my adult life, and learned it well. Ya know old Pucster, I'm gettin tired of hauling snow over the lake for you, its been a long winter, I was gonna give it a rest, but now we will just have to see if I still have one more left in me...... And this 60° and sunny stuff that is here right now, I'm gonna keep that on this side of the lake. :rasberry: :rasberry:

In 1535 in helping the explorer Jacques Cartier, The Iroquois pointed out the route to the village of Stadacona, the future site of Quebec City, and used the word "kanata," the Huron-Iroquois word for village.
Sailor Posted April 15, 2014 #35 Posted April 15, 2014 Right! I learned that in school and as with most things I learned in school I promptly forgot it as it had, until now, no relevance to real life.
