1BigDog Posted April 3, 2014 #1 Posted April 3, 2014 After selling my beloved 99 I never thought I would get excited about another bike. Oh well, things have changed. My new to me 2008 Triumph Rocket 3 Tourer arrived Monday am. Jonsey, you were right. Shes a beauty! Got her registered yesterday and took her out for a shakedown run. Dam thing almost threw me off. You CANNOT twist the throttle like you are on an RSV and expect to survive. The bike just up and goes fast! 150 ft lbs of torque comes in below 2500 rpm. You do the math. Plus the previous owner added Triumph non cat mufflers with a nice gentle bark and KN filters along with an engine re-map. He now has about 117 HP at the rear wheel. He did push it to 138 RWHP but toned it down a bit. Specs say it would do 0-60 in 3 seconds. Ill never find that out though. Oh yea...fuel injection! Fit and finish is top notch as well. Yes, its a big bike, which was one of the reasons why I sold my 99. It was too top heavy for me. But while this beast is heavy, it is not top heavy and pretty well balanced for such a big bike. Got Kury pegs coming and I may add a few "Farkles" here and there but ill leave it pretty much stock. Ill post some pics when I take some.
etcswjoe Posted April 3, 2014 #3 Posted April 3, 2014 I came close to buying one but waitied too long and the bike was sold. Let us know how it does on long runs.

I have the same problem as Dan,, getting it in the garage past Tippy (well,, that and the $$'s of course),, I was thinking how much fun it would be to buy one,, store it at a buddies house until I could turn it into a touring bike with bags/faring/trunk and than show it to the wife... I would name Clark (Kent),,, problem is it wouldnt take her long to figure out why I chose that name... Hey,, you guys notice the abundance of left over 2nd Gen Maxes? Seeing a bunch of em advertised at under 15 (thats USD Squeeze).. AMAZING for what that bike is!!!!!!
jonesy Posted April 3, 2014 #12 Posted April 3, 2014 Ruffy, glad to hear it make the trip ok, and that you're happy with it. Pleasure to have helped you out.

Yep, 150 ft lbs of torque and she pulls like nothing else that I have ever experienced. You cannot crack the throttle and expect to survive..LOL. Also, you have to keep both feet on the ground if you wick the throttle as the torque will twist the bike to the right. At least it has a 180 rear tire. And it is a Metzeler. Next set will be Avon Cobras.
Guest Posted April 4, 2014 #14 Posted April 4, 2014 I came close to buying one but waitied too long and the bike was sold. Let us know how it does on long runs. Once I get my Utopia back rest, highway pegs and risers mounted ill let you know.
