uncledj Posted April 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) I'm looking to order a Ram mount for my Motorola Razor Max HD. I'm planning on using it as a gps and for music as well. I went to the website to order, but one of the questions is for arm length. Any opinions? I'll be using it on my 06 Black Cherry. Eck Posted April 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2014 I have a couple ram mounts but not sure if what I have would be what you are looking for. If you could send me a pic or give me an idea, I can look to see if what I have will work for you and all I ask is you pay the postage. You can have the mount if I have one that will work for your needs. Eck
uncledj Posted April 2, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted April 2, 2014 How kind. The thing is that I'm not really sure what I need. I've never used one before. I saw a thread a month or so ago that showed a link to Ram mounts, and they seemed pretty cool. The side grippers were adjustable to fit around any buttons on the phone. I was hoping that someone more knowledgeable could tell me what works best for them, and I'd just do the same. I'm looking to mount my Razor Max, I'd think on the left handlebar, where I can see it and manipulate it well enough to use the gps and the music capabilities of the phone. Eck Posted April 2, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 2, 2014 I do not have anything that will , (say), grab the sides of a phone. I have a ball type mount clamps the ball on the back of a unit. Well I tried.. however if you find a pic of what you think you need, post it here and I will see if I can help you in some way. Until then, ride safe!! RedRider Posted April 2, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 2, 2014 These work well. My Dad carries his iPhone in one of these on his motorcycle. Never had a problem. http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-universal-x-grip-cradle-bike-mount-rap-274-1-un7.html RR
Eck Posted April 2, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 2, 2014 If I remember correctly, Wal-Mart has a thingamabob that clamps to the sides of a phone in their auto department...I think it was around $10.
djh3 Posted April 2, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 2, 2014 Basicly the "arm length" is how far away you would want the unit to be off the handlebars. Depending on how you mount it up of course. For my GPS (garmin 765) I think I went with sort of the most common I think 3". Just sort of depends onthe angle of the dangle you want.
alwrmcusn Posted April 2, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 2, 2014 The shorter the arm the less vibration you'll have. I use 3" for both my GPS and my GoPro. I have mine mounted on top of my brake and clutch reservoirs. The photo (taken on my midnight ride from 2013 to 2014 ) shows the mounts. The large black box on the right is where I place my GPS. I made the GPS rain cover from a plastic index card box.

djh3 Posted April 3, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 3, 2014 ALWR-Index card box like storage type from maybe office depot? I kind of like that. Looks like it might also help with sun on screen. What type GPS do you mount there?
