Howd did that get under there?

Found my bike like this yesterday in the aftermath of the high winds that came through here. It had been breezy in the morning but they say gusts were hitting from 40 to 70 MPH.

I didn't notice it right away as the catch plate on the south entry door was torn out of the frame and a basement window was blown out. It got kinda breezy in the house to. Enough to send my daughters two cats sliding across the hardwood floors (which was the most entertaining part of my day) but I'm going to need to do some serious dusting in here.

The front right side of the fairing was actually under the rear of the camper. So far only major damage loss seems to be the windscreen. Even the mirrors survived. Still has to get it stood up for a better inspection. Got it pulled out far enough to try to get her back on her feet when a lil help arrives.

(Full bike covers are NOT the answer in all conditions)

At least the brushfire missed the place. Not a total loss for the day.

OUCH!!

Good time to inspect and clean the stuff on the bottom?

Wind is coming back up and it's starting to rain. Maybe I should run out and spray some degreaser on it while it's laying there.

After doing about 20 or 30 miles a day since last August on these lime rock roads maybe I should use Dustbuster.

Ouch, those stones gotta hurt!! Also, it's pointing the wrong way to get your butt on the seat to bring it upright! Shame a 2nd gen shield won't fit, I have a spare one of those.

Well as Jeff said, get out the chrome polish and make your collector shine...

Oh Bobby. You missed my last misadventure last month. The bike has nine lives. I think I've only used two. I hope.

Went down on these rock roads pulling the trailer. Trailer tire caught a rut and dragged me off the side and left me laying in the mud. Leg was pinned under the left side of the bike and helmet was wedged between the trunk and body of the trailer. Daughter finally found me and got me pulled loose. Not a scratch on the bike. Me, not so much.

Now I'm thinking about a 4 wheel drive for a while.

Looking forward to moving somewhere with paved roads more than anything.

Doors still open down here in Texas....

:whistling:

I'd been considering Texas for a long time mostly due to favorable weather conditions for the bike lifestyle during the winter season.

About the time i was regretting not being on my way there it was about the time wasn't it the governor that Declared a good part of the state a disaster area due to winter storms.

Sat down and thought about Texas some more. Still on the table. Still looking forward to meeting you Brad and the rest the boys down there.

Mike, I'm sorry to see your beautiful Blonde lying there like this, almost made me shed some Tears.:crying::crying::crying:

I hope damage is not as bad a it looks, i fear the Fairing Carrier may have taken a hit and is bent ...

I wish, you can get it back in the State it was before, a lovely Ride and well taken care of.

Well it's on its feet again. I finally was able to bribe one of the locals to stop by and lend a hand. He brought his son along so it was a quick fix with the three of us.

Surprising there was little damage. Fairing and bags were unmarked. It did eat the lower wind wing which i will miss. Those Bakers were NOS i bought years ago.

Of courses the windscreen, my new Cee Bailey was shattered. The fairing is still siting square on the supports. The top of shield appears to be the impact point when it slid under the trailer. I think the full cover is why it slid so easy. Top half cover i keep over the full covet was shredded from the wind.

But all in all it faired the storm well. I got lucky. So off to find a screen and new covers.

I'll add a couple pics in the next few posts. These bikes are tough.

Good news My own experience was similar went my parked 88 went down from heavy wind..The damage was much less than it initially appeared.. These bikes continue to amaze me.

Thanks Lutz

My luck with da ladies lately the next time my bike goes down it will probably be at a lesbian convention. Best I keep it rolling and moving on. LOL

Heard from Dingy last night. My new Ingtech system should be here Wednesday. Hopefully get my hands in a windscreen by next weekend. Time to get after the detail stuff. Time to get rolling.
