cowpuc Posted March 27, 2014 #1 Posted March 27, 2014 I know,, wrong site but hey,, still a Yam V-4!! Wondered if any of you guys had any actual exposure to the big block... I did get a chance to see one once in a showroom but thats it,, out of all the road miles we have cranked up over the summers I have yet to see one in action... Wonder how they sound, smell, feel..... Thoughts?? Wonder what kinda fuel economy they get :rotf::rotf:
Ventureless Posted March 27, 2014 #3 Posted March 27, 2014 Are the 2014s the same as the 13s? If so I have a buddy that has one and I have ridden it. I will say that if I was more wealthy I would have one next to the Venture. But as Ace50 said, FAST. Fast might not even be the right word. You had better be ready when you twist that throttle. And that is with my 300 pound fat butt on it. My buddy said it gets pretty crappy mileage and if he rides to work and home, he has to fill up every day. It would be fun, but not practical for me. I like to go fast at times, but not usually. And there is no place to carry anything on one. Also I think you have to raise the seat every time you fill it up with fuel. But yes very fast!!
Squeeze Posted March 27, 2014 #4 Posted March 27, 2014 Well, with Akrapovic Mufflers, it sounds fast, smells for burned Fuel fast(actually a LOT of burned Fuel), feels quite quick when you turn the Wrist fast .... :whistling: Hoenstly, it is handling much better than my 1Gen VR, IS FAST, especially after you fitted some Aftermarket go-faster Goodies, like a reflashed ECU, Better Air Filter, modfied Air Box, a Power Commander to tune the Details (+a Map Switch for the fuel conserving :rotf::rotf:Mapping of the EFI during the long haul Runs), rear Sets with Quick Shifter to switch Gear under 100 Percent Throttle, Lock-Up Clutch and whatnot else minor Adjustments ...
Yammer Dan Posted March 27, 2014 #5 Posted March 27, 2014 Oh you said got not want! I wouldn't last long on that thing... But what a way to GO! GO! GO!!!
Venturous Randy Posted March 27, 2014 #6 Posted March 27, 2014 Kind of reminds me of the country song about "Having too much fun". RandyA

cowpuc Posted March 27, 2014 Author #8 Posted March 27, 2014 Kind of reminds me of the country song about "Having too much fun". RandyA Ya got that right padna,, only in Squeezes case there needs to be another verse saying something about "putting a whoopin on the AutoBaun,, where the carrera's and the ferrari's play"
syscrusher Posted March 27, 2014 #9 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Kind of reminds me of the country song about "Having too much fun." RandyA I didn't really consider that a country song and I never did have too much fun. "Too much fun, that's news to me..... Too much fun, something I've got to see..... Not a whole lot of things that I never done, but.... I never did have too much fun!" Edited March 27, 2014 by syscrusher stuff

mraf Posted March 28, 2014 #11 Posted March 28, 2014 My son has a V-max. It has a stage 3 carb mod and a different exhaust system. It is fast. But no where as fast as anything Squeeze has. We went on a road trip on the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway and it got just as good of mileage as my Venture. Mind you the speed limit is 45. I was impressed to say the least. On one fill-up he averaged 48 MPG. I was scratching my head on that one till he confessed that he was coasting on every downhill on the trip.

"Mention" = people (if I recall correctly),, meant to be read - I love the German people.. Herbort produced, among other things, cherry pitters.. A group of investors decided to try and open a production plant for pitters here in 81, I got hired as Mechanical Supervisor.. 3 of us went to the mother plant in 82 for 6 weeks of training.. The company gave us the choice of housing with some German folks in thier homes or moteling it.. I chose to stay in house with real German folks.. Lived with a family on a farm, had a BLAST!!!! Knew NO German, they knew NO english.. I started making my own Deutsche "Vertaboo" (dictionary) at day one (still got it stored in my Herbort Memories) - I would point at an object - they would pronounce it and i would write it down phonetically, they did same with english. Worked GREAT!!! By the third week I was able to jump on a train (lots and lots of train travel there) and navigate all over Germany, even traveled down by Austria, LOVED ULM AND STUTGART!!! Did a LOT of bicycle travel too, given a choice to get a drivers license but didnt need it.. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it... Guden Tag Puc
Squeeze Posted March 28, 2014 #13 Posted March 28, 2014 Holy M..., i'd never thought we have so much german spoken Members onboard !!! I love to hear Stories about my home Country, and i could intepret and understand what's been said. Great Moment for me. Mention would be "Menschen" spelled right, whatever, it's great to hear People from about having a Time over here. Also thanks for the Translation. About the Autobahn, yes, it's a Lot of Fun when you're allowed to travel with the Limit of the Bike, but we have also got a Lot of Speed Limits exposed over the last Years. We have a Lot of green People with their Party elected in the last Years and their Philosophy (not to say Dictatorship or fatuous Ideas) show. When i'm travelling, i find my comfortable Speed normally at 5750 RpM in fifth, which is just shy of 110 mph. I can empty Tank after Tank at that Speed.:crackup:I can empty a Tank at 160 also, but that gets pretty tiring after the second Tank. I love the '09 VMAX, it's a great Bike and besides the current Liter Bikes, there's not much going like it. Besides, this is a 320 Kilogram Behemoth, not a 200 kg like-a-Bicycle Ride.

I've only heard of that MPG on the first gen.
Squeeze Posted March 28, 2014 #15 Posted March 28, 2014 Stage3 Carb Mod indicated a carburated Bike, so, i sounds like a 1Gen to me

My wife of 43 years is a German. I spent 6 years in Neu Ulm Germany and 10 years in Frankfurt. being from North Carolina I speak hillbilly German.I have been in every country in Europe and all the east block countries and the Soviet Union.I was working on the Pershing nuclear missiles for 23 years and when the USA and the Soviet Union signed the INF treaty to eliminate the intermediate range missiles I was on the inspection team inspecting their missiles in the Soviet union and East Germany. We eliminated all the Pershing rocket launchers at my shop in Frankfurt and I was at Longhorn Army Ammunitation Plant in Karnack Texas for all the missile eliminations.I had a camper that I pulled behind my Chevy conversion van and everytime we got free time we traveled, and trust me I had lots of free time.i was the contracting officer for Martin Marietta, the only military person on my installation,so I had all the time off I wanted because my boss was at redstone Arsenal Alabame. We had satellite phones so if I was in Italy when he called if needed I could be back in Germany in a couple hours.I loved Germany.
Squeeze Posted March 29, 2014 #19 Posted March 29, 2014 Rooster, wow, i'm impressed, thank you for your Service and making the World a bit safer, both with the Pershings and also when destroying them on both Sides of the Iron Curtain ! A Buddie of mine served in the Bundeswehr as (1st Line) Guard for the Pershing Facilty in Landsberg/Lech. I myself haven't had the Chance of serving due to my bad left Eye, i wish i would have been given the Opportunity, it would have helped getting a better Man. I remember well the Prostest Storm in my Youth about stationing the Pershings over here, i never understood their Point of View. It sure was nice to travel all over Europe i wish i had enough Time to do so, but running my own small Company takes a Lot of Investment, not just some Money, but also a LOT of Power and Time. He´s alive Squeeze my man - where the heck have you been ? And how the heck have you been ? Well Jonas, even though i needed a big Break and took myself off the (whole) Grid, make no Mistake and confuse Inactivness with Immobility ! I said it before and say it again, i'am here for quite a long Time and i fully plan to stay a least that long if not a Lot longer, even if i'm not active here, i'm a VentureRider at Heart, always will be.
