VentureFar Posted March 25, 2014 #1 Posted March 25, 2014 I am going to install this hefty pump on my RSV. It is a sears but it cans read any info on the shiny label. Does anyone know if it is waterproof/resistant or not? I am planning to mount it on the frame right behind the passenger foot pad. -thanks carbon one for the wiring kit. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/DEA976AA-E8C9-4A42-B99A-5C1DD62E0954_zpsrky4xapg.jpg
Eck Posted March 25, 2014 #2 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) Just looking at the photo makes it very hard to tell without knowing a part number, make or model of it. Are you going to use it for a air or fuel pump? Edit; Just thought here... You could spray the entire thing using a can of that $3.00 truck bed liner spray stuff or a $2.00 can of auto undercoating spray to seal it all up from the elements. 1st, mask off the wire connectors and hose attach points, spray it, then remove the masking. Once you installed the wires, you can do a touch up using a small paint brush to apply a light coating over the connectors...(just a thought) Edited March 25, 2014 by Eck

VentureFar Posted March 25, 2014 Author #6 Posted March 25, 2014 Just looking again at the compressor anyone know what the top two electrical connection tabs are for? When I tried it I just connected the bottom wires to the battery. In the very old box are two six inch wires with the female slide on connectors that would fit those tabs. Thoughts ?? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/ED721A33-E175-4A7A-9F81-9DA5F7265A69_zpsfbmvhvd1.jpg VentureFar...
cowpuc Posted March 25, 2014 #7 Posted March 25, 2014 I wonder if those are terminals for an internal relay switch...
VentureFar Posted March 25, 2014 Author #8 Posted March 25, 2014 I wonder if those are terminals for an internal relay switch... Don't think so as there is an old relay in the box. I am using Carbon One relay now fyi. VentureFar..
VentureFar Posted March 25, 2014 Author #9 Posted March 25, 2014 I just noticed that the hole pattern for the fake cylinder fins on the right side are the same bolt pattern as the mounting bracket for the compressor. Does anyone know if it would be ok to mount the compressor there? I probably should clean it up and spray it black though. Thoughts? VentureFar...

Air Horns. fyi- for another thread - I already replaced my points kit on my fuel pump at 15k miles and it worked out great...as long as my solder joint doesn't let go. VentureFar...

Suggest you take it to SEARS since you said you saw the word SEARs on it, and ask them to pull it up in their catalog... they should be able to tell you all about it and give you info on connections and such with a print out diagram. Have you seen the ad's for "flexseal" ? http://flexsealdirect.com Never seen this stuff before. Will have to read about it more..Thanks for sharing
