uncledj Posted March 25, 2014 #1 Posted March 25, 2014 I'm sittin' here watching Star Trek Edge of Darkness, and I can't help but notice that when the Enterprise takes off and goes to warp speed, where all you see is a smoke trail and a dot within a fraction of a second, it really looks like my first gen when I do a hard acceleration. Just an observation.

cowpuc Posted March 25, 2014 #4 Posted March 25, 2014 Hey Unc,,, I TOTALLY GET YOUR POINT!! Back a couple of 1st Gens ago I was riding an 84 Royale, it had a fully functional cassette player, a good clutch AND that one even had a good second gear.. My second born daughter and I were getting ready to hit the western road. As we headed out the driveway I noticed a tape in her hand. Asked about it and she said she made it just for our trip.. Part of this tape consisted of Music sound tracks from both Star Trek and Star Wars.. I asked why she did that and she said cause this time when you say,, "hang on, engaging the warp drive",, we will have music to match!! Couple weeks later we are in the tunnels at Zion National Park, stuck in traffic, cagers all turned there cars off and we shut the bike off sitting there in the pitch darkeness talking.. She reaches in her pocket and pulls her tape out,, I stick it in, turned the key on and the theme from Star Trek breaks the silence,, echoing for miles :rotf: Thanks for the memories:stirthepot: Puc
bongobobny Posted March 25, 2014 #5 Posted March 25, 2014 Yup!! Second gear is a real surprise on a 1st gen!! It will lift the front end very easily...
buddy Posted March 25, 2014 #6 Posted March 25, 2014 Yep my old 83 Venture was a beast But it did not smoke! So you might find out why yours smokes in warp drive
uncledj Posted March 25, 2014 Author #7 Posted March 25, 2014 Yep my old 83 Venture was a beast But it did not smoke! So you might find out why yours smokes in warp drive The smoke is where the road is burning from the force applied to it from my back tire. Kinda like the roadrunner used to....remember the flame trail he'd leave when he was running really fast ? Beep Beep Zip BANG !

EasyRider Posted March 25, 2014 #9 Posted March 25, 2014 I'm bettin you fellas miss your rotory dial telephones too.. Even StarTrek moved to the Next Generation:cool10: The only reason you can see a 2nd Gen is because we slow down so you can admire.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 25, 2014 #11 Posted March 25, 2014 The 1stgen inertial dampeners must be very reliable...never seen any talk of them being on the fritz....not to mention the deflector arrays...
Yammer Dan Posted March 25, 2014 #12 Posted March 25, 2014 I can't get over 4k out of a rear tire. I know where the smoke is coming from....
cowpuc Posted March 25, 2014 #13 Posted March 25, 2014 I can't get over 4k out of a rear tire. I know where the smoke is coming from.... WORD!!! And that black rubber soot is nasty to get off your hands/Capt'ns uniform if you happen to rub against it.. Just be fair and honest here though,, I did get into a bad bunch of DiLithium Crystals once that also caused some weird smelling vapor trails BUT that only happened once...
Yammer Dan Posted March 25, 2014 #14 Posted March 25, 2014 Some of the warp configurations could be getting overheated as you skip from one to another to avoid those 2nd Gens....
cowpuc Posted March 25, 2014 #15 Posted March 25, 2014 It has to be a matter/anti matter problem,, ask Scotty ,, he knows.. I heard rumors that Federation Regulations forced the engineers to use Tribbles for air filters on all 2nd Gens to help cushion the warp drive engagement,, something about the crews getting light headed every time the warp drive tach reached 4500 on the 1st Gens..
Flyinfool Posted March 25, 2014 #16 Posted March 25, 2014 Must have been a time warp or a worm hole, Uncledj is repeating himself.
