JerryK Posted March 24, 2014 #1 Posted March 24, 2014 Just got my bike back from a good servicing with 116,000 miles on it. Valves check out to specs and I watched it done. Had to replace all 16 valve cover rubber washers for $180 [ouch] they were all hard and brittle an leaking. Valve cover gaskets were leaking but kept the rubbery feel but replaced with new. Even the rear brake fluid container had got hot enough it was checked and needed replaced. New carb manifolds replaced the very checked looking ones. Motor looked very clean inside but all my gaskets were hard and brittle. My mechanic thinks it has gotten hot at some time. Replaced side cover gaskets too. Took the carbs apart and cleaned them then had them properly synced. Replaced cylinder anti freeze plugs that had been leaking a little. New anti freeze and oil and filter. Tires and brakes are always serviced and kept fresh. Ready to roll and see what this year will bring!
muaymendez1 Posted March 24, 2014 #2 Posted March 24, 2014 Sounds awesome but you just wasted valuable riding time. Get out there and put those seals to work
JDaniel Posted March 25, 2014 #3 Posted March 25, 2014 Sounds like your ready to roll Jerry. I did my valves and had Iron Pony in Columbus clean and set the carbs up. Now we need some decent riding weather. Snow today. 15 degrees tomorrow morning and then rain for 3 days. Will spring ever get here?
