Money Venture Posted March 21, 2014 #1 Posted March 21, 2014 I bought my 1987 Venture about two weeks ago. I have been cleaning and checking to see what all it needed. I took it out for two short rides today and the second one, I noticed the temp gauge went to the top of the green and the fan turned on. Came home and found anti-freeze leaking out the bottom. Haven't looked close yet but it looks like it is dripping from the general area around the oil filter. One more thing to add to the list I guess. It only has 35000 miles, but it seems everything is original like hoses and all.
Flyinfool Posted March 21, 2014 #2 Posted March 21, 2014 There is a drain valve in that area. It is well known for the o-ring to get hard and start to leak. Very simple fix.
mega2500 Posted March 21, 2014 #3 Posted March 21, 2014 I have a 89 that is leaking at the thermastat o-ring that only leaks on cold days has not been fixed yet [8ft snow drift in front of the door to get to it]
Money Venture Posted March 21, 2014 Author #4 Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks Jeff. Yes, this is the third ride I have been on. I have hydraulic repairs and front spring repairs to do. Oh yes, and the shift indicator disappears in 1st or N. I tried the cruise today and it worked. I was told it didn't. I did notice that pulling the clutch does not disengage the cruise though.
