theportunionkid Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Got new cylinder plugs and top seems a little smaller than the originals. Just don't want any surprises when I tear into the old girl. Can anybody confirm they fit. Got the right part # on the package 90338-11152 Measured top,(what's outside of cylinder) new one 13mm old one 14mm. Or do they spread in use? (Heat and cover pressing on them.)
Rick Butler Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 They appear to be the (4) rubber water jacket plugs held in place by the metal cylinder side plates? The ones you screw the top threaded end of a spark plug into to remove. If these are the plugs, they should fit snugly into the hole? Hope this helps, Rick

I would have to see it on the parts illustration; maybe you can spot here: http://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/l/yam/50042517f8700209bc7880ab/1984-xvz12dkc2-parts and post the page here where you find it shown. I'm certain one of the more experienced guys will help you out.
theportunionkid Posted March 22, 2014 Author Posted March 22, 2014 Went ahead and took out old plugs new ones have smaller top (the part exposed when installed) but diameter of the "plug " part is the same. I was just nervous that maybe I got the wrong part in the right bag. I have a history of being a bad luck schlep-rock. Really bizarre, dumb stuff like that happens to me all the time.
mbrood Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) I think you mean the plugs under the ribbed vertical cover plate on each cylinder side wall... this is simply a spark plug drain route to drain oil, water and crud from the deep recessed spark plug holes, a "tight" fit is not necessary.
