cabreco Posted March 19, 2014 #1 Posted March 19, 2014 The trunk on my 1984 was not there when I bought it & the one I put on came from my 84 parts bike. Unfortunately, I have 2 keys: 1 for the trunk lid lock & the lock that attaches the trunk & 1 for everything else. Would anyone know if the locks on the trunk (both the lid & the lock down) are rekeyable? If so, Also, how difficult is the removal of the locks so that I can just hand them to the locksmith
dingy Posted March 19, 2014 #2 Posted March 19, 2014 They are rekeyable. Probably run you about $25. Gary
bongobobny Posted March 19, 2014 #3 Posted March 19, 2014 ...or luck out and find a complete lockset with key on fleabay, they do sometimes show up!
Pegasus1300 Posted March 19, 2014 #4 Posted March 19, 2014 Removing the locks is a piece of cake. Just look inside the trunk and you will see the screws to remove to take it out.Same with the lock that holds the trunk to the bike.
friesman Posted March 19, 2014 #5 Posted March 19, 2014 Why not just cut one side of the key to the trunk and one side for the ignition? Brian
cabreco Posted March 19, 2014 Author #6 Posted March 19, 2014 Why not just cut one side of the key to the trunk and one side for the ignition? Brian DUH! GREAT IDEA!!! it never dawned on me to cut each side differently. Sometimes the SIMPLEST fixes are right in front of your face. Thanks Brian, I think I'll go this route until I repaint time.
