Bobby Joe Posted March 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2014 I remember reading on here some where's about using a 4 to 5 wire trailer wire converter to make a bikes turn signals work as run, stop, turn. I know you can buy a kit from Kuryakn to do this, but I thought if I could find that article again I would tinker with it. Anytime I can make something work and its a lot cheaper I'm for it (especially being on limited income.) My bike is a 99 Venture, thanks for the response. Flyinfool Posted March 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 17, 2014 Make sure that whichever converter you get is rated for either LED or incandescent. If it does not say then it probably is incandescent only.

slim_32 Posted April 28, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 28, 2014 Hi Bobby, When I built my trailer to pull with my 08 RSTD, I ordered a wire harness from M61A1mech, I think you can find him in the items for sale post. I went to Advanced Auto and bought a Hoppe Power Converter. It was pretty easy to hook up. Good Luck
Venturous Randy Posted April 28, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 28, 2014 When I wired my camper for the bike, I used a six pin connector and had separate lights for brake and signal. That way, I did not need a converter for the trailer and I also put LED lights I got from Harbor Freight. It works great. I have gone thru several converters on cars over the years. MikeWa Posted April 29, 2014 Share #9 Posted April 29, 2014 I went the other way. I converted the trailer to work with the Japanese style lights on the bike. I made the brake / turn lights brake only and added turn signals as a separate light. So I now have tail and brake original red and turn signal amber add on. IronMike Posted July 1, 2014 Share #12 Posted July 1, 2014 And the same thing I did, After looking at the space the converter was going to need. I like Amber turn signals more anyways, they are more visible and especially with the emergency flashers on.
