northern venture Posted March 16, 2014 #1 Posted March 16, 2014 Removed the cam covers and saw the arrow direction inside only after I cleaned them. Which way do they go? Both pointing forward? Pointing outward? Tanx! Am about to go to garage and install but thought I should find out 1st.
dingy Posted March 16, 2014 #2 Posted March 16, 2014 I am fairly sure they will only fit on one way. Front and rear are interchangeable per parts fiche. Gary
djh3 Posted March 16, 2014 #3 Posted March 16, 2014 Yup cam/valve covers are interchangeable just turn them around 180. Now the chrome goobers that go on top. I hate to say you should have marked them dang things before you took them off. I bet I spent an hour figuring which one went where, and that was after I thought I had a system when laying them out.

The parts fiche has chrome caps numbered in the parts breakdown. Each cap has a number cast into the lower side I am assuming corresponds to parts fiche call out. This is all taken with a grain of salt considering I don't have a Running Hybrid/RSV yet. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2003/ROYAL%20STAR%20MIDNIGHT%20VENTURE%20%28Onyx%29%20-%20XVZ1300TFSR/CYLINDER%20HEAD/parts.html Gary
northern venture Posted March 16, 2014 Author #5 Posted March 16, 2014 Went to handy dandy d/ldd Venture manual from this site and found that arrows point to exhaust. The scanning of the manual resulted in poor pic quality and I am looking for a cd version that has exploded views and diagrams. Any suggestions?
ragtop69gs Posted March 17, 2014 #6 Posted March 17, 2014 if you still need pics, let me know and I'll scan the pages you need.
dingy Posted March 17, 2014 #7 Posted March 17, 2014 Attached are screen shots that may help you locate them. Use the call out # in the exploded view and in the text picture it will reference a cover #. Gary
jet3279 Posted March 17, 2014 #8 Posted March 17, 2014 I think theres a small notch by the plug hole on one side that will designate direction Sent from my SPH-M930 using Tapatalk 2
