dacheedah Posted March 14, 2014 #26 Posted March 14, 2014 We had firefighters attend a funeral, the procession went through and they fought it a while and got tons of publicity, don't know how they made out. You just need a copy of the mayor's license plate xerox's and attached over yours.
baylensman Posted March 14, 2014 #27 Posted March 14, 2014 Another interesting fact on the news about red light cams. Fatalities down but overall accidents are up! My idea is this solve the homeless and jobless problem. If you're out of work, go to the courthouse and register, get assigned a corner, get a digital camera. Stake out the intersection. At the end of the day email your photos to the police. You get 10% of every ticket generated. No more $10K cameras paid for with my money while a private contracter gets 40% off the top.
bongobobny Posted March 14, 2014 #28 Posted March 14, 2014 Send them a picture of a $100 bill.I tried that once and they sent me back a picture of a jail cell...
syscrusher Posted March 14, 2014 #29 Posted March 14, 2014 My sympathies. BUT how slow is slow enough when running a red light or stop sign? 5 mph? 10 MPH ? And who decides this? Those we entrusted to make the decision have said 'stop means stop' not slow down. In Washington State that means three seconds. Mike Stop means wasting fuel. Any fool can verify safe conditions to roll through a stop at 5 or 10 mph, especially in low traffic areas. It would be far more efficient, and to the betterment of society, to allow so-called "California Stops", but that would mean that funds wouldn't be collected for these petty infractions.
BratmanXj Posted March 14, 2014 #30 Posted March 14, 2014 Stop means wasting fuel. Any fool can verify safe conditions to roll through a stop at 5 or 10 mph, especially in low traffic areas. But unfortunately you OVERESTIMATE the abilities of the general public. In the greater Chicago area having the ability to turn on red usually result the that driver feeling as though they have the right of way.
Mike G in SC Posted March 15, 2014 #32 Posted March 15, 2014 Hey MikeG in SC, if you or the significant other are traveling Illinois toll roads again and you drive through the iPass or even a Coin Only toll without paying you can pay online. I believe there is a time limit but there is a website where you pay without penalty. Recently I had a rental car and didn't have my iPass and turned off the toll road and the exit was .60 coins only. I had no change so drove through. Paid the .60 online when I got home. If hadn't they would have tracked me down though the rental car company and ticketed me. Don't ask me how I know Yeah, the fella at the 800-toll line said that,,, after she had got the ticket. She said she never saw booths, thought she would just pay at the end,,, like neighboring states. She filled out a form contesting it,,,, naah. $63. They know outta-towners are clueless. If I ever find my azz up there again, will keep it in mind. Mike G.
SundayRider Posted March 16, 2014 #33 Posted March 16, 2014 I heard on a news break this past week that red light cameras may soon be a thing of the past nation wide. They never gave the rest of the story so I'm not sure why.
