Can this possibly be for real... And I thought Victory's 5 year warranty sounded good... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Other-2013-Honda-Gold-Wing-GL1800-FREE-LIFETIME-ENGINE-WARRANTY-AUDIO-COMFORT-LEVEL-1-/111294066716?forcerrptr=true&hash=item19e9a4b01c&item=111294066716&pt=US_motorcycles
Yammer Dan Posted March 12, 2014 #2 Posted March 12, 2014 I think my wallet keeps me from looking closer at these things.
Midicat Posted March 12, 2014 #5 Posted March 12, 2014 Did a search on "lifetime engine warranty" for Goldwing. This is what I came up with. http://powersports.honda.com/protectionplan/motorcycle-threeyear.aspx Maybe the dealer is confident enough to extend that to lifetime. Thomas
RandyR Posted March 12, 2014 #6 Posted March 12, 2014 It looks like 3+4=7 is the warranty from Honda. So this lifetime warranty, is likely a dealer thing. ie: have to bring it to the dealer for warranty service. Since we don't know the selling price / reserve, we don't know what the dealer is charging for that warranty (if at all). http://www.southernhonda.com/2013-Honda-Gold-Wing-Audio-Comfort-inventory.htm?ID=18048614&Brand=16&Type=1787&fm=1 is the dealers web page for this model. $23,990 is list price with a $3k discount currently offered. no mention of a lifetime warranty on the dealer web page. The goldwing is the only motorcycle in the same class as the RSV/RSTD for reliability.
SilvrT Posted March 12, 2014 #7 Posted March 12, 2014 FWIW ... Victory does not have a 5 yr warranty. That only applied to a specific year as a promo.
bongobobny Posted March 12, 2014 #8 Posted March 12, 2014 Betcha I could blow up the engine, even if it has a rev limiter...
blaine1 Posted March 12, 2014 #9 Posted March 12, 2014 tinker with bikes have learned a lot from this site:lightbulb:
cowpuc Posted March 12, 2014 Author #10 Posted March 12, 2014 FWIW ... Victory does not have a 5 yr warranty. That only applied to a specific year as a promo. Now that cha mention it Silvr, you may be right on that,, the only reason I said that is cause when we went and test rode the Indians last fall the dealer, who is also a Victory Dealer, tried to sell us a left over Victory... At the end of his sales pitch he said "and this one comes with a 5 year warranty"...... tinker with bikes have learned a lot from this site:lightbulb: Me too Blaine on both counts,,,, me too!! Fun aint it!!
TDbiker Posted March 12, 2014 #11 Posted March 12, 2014 Indian is claiming 5 years of coverage: 5-Years of Coverage Indian Motorcycle® backs every new Indian Motorcycle with 5 years of coverage that includes both a 1 year limited warranty and an extended service contract. Coverage is subject to $50 deductible with no mileage limitation.
SilvrT Posted March 12, 2014 #12 Posted March 12, 2014 Victory Dealer, tried to sell us a left over Victory... At the end of his sales pitch he said "and this one comes with a 5 year warranty"...... If it was a 2012 then it would have the 5 yr. They discontinued that in 2013. I could only get 2 yr on mine and that's all they're offering on the 2014s Having said that, I believe you can purchase a 3rd party extended warranty but from what I've heard, there are so many caveats that it's not worth the money. Guy on the Vic site just found out his shifter fork was bent ... he had one of those 3rd party warranties ... they wouldn't do anything for him coz he had installed a Power Commander. This was on a 2011 model.

He swears by this place and say they are great to deal with.
djh3 Posted March 13, 2014 #14 Posted March 13, 2014 My experience with the 3rd party warranties is not good either. Although not on a bike it was on a mini-van we had. Some part of the controller for the AC went out they didn't want to cover it because it wasn't "part of the AC system" We haggled back and forth and my side of it was the AC wont work without it so its needed for the AC. There is some much fine print I don't think a lawyer can read all of it.
