Last week my cb quit transmitting. That turned out to be a broken #2 wire in the riders patch cable from the ecu. I got a new one under warranty and put it in. All was well until today. Yesterday I went for a ride in some heavy rain. This included stop and go and slow speed in the downpour. So everything got pretty well soaked. This morning the audio system went bonkers. The buttons had little or no effect. Inputs changed on their own. The radio turned itself off and on at will. Way cool.

Of course I assumed water in the riders control unit. So I took the back off and removed the controller from it's housing. I was surprised to see that the internal unit was pretty well sealed and didn't seem wet. Now what? I added a little heat with a hair dryer and put a liberal dose of dielectric grease on the pins to the one plug inside the housing. Testing proved successful. Everything now worked normally. I don't know where the moisture was or how it got in but apparently it doesn't take much to screw things up.

I will be looking at the controller. All fuses are fine but no audio or dc power from the socket. I . Think manual says one fuse in the fairing and the connections there are usually the culprits.

Glad you got yours squared away. Did you apply the grease to the seals as well. There should be no petroleum because it doesn't affect plug boots, so it should be fine.

On my RSV there are two housings on the controller. An inner and an outer. The outer one doesn't really use seals. It is just a tight fit. I did not find a way to open the inner housing. So I just warmed everything up with the hair drier and applied dielectric to the internal plug.
