Godlover Posted March 6, 2014 #1 Posted March 6, 2014 I always seem to need a summer project so I am looking at a 1976 Olds Toronado tomorrow! It is a beast and has a great body and interior. It has been sitting for awhile so the brakes don't work but other than that it looks decent. I can get it cheap which is good as they don't bring much on the market. Anyone have any experience with this beast? It has a 455 in it with only 250 hp! I am sure it drinks gas!
wrnchjox Posted March 6, 2014 #2 Posted March 6, 2014 had one great car,you would think being a 455 that mpg's would be bad but not really, all depends on whether or not you can keep your foot out of the carb.Only weak points I noticed was U-joints on the CV SHAFTS and the need to keep trans fluid and filter changed on regular basis.Pretty cool jumping on the throttle and fogging the front tires about off though.
Stealthblade Posted March 6, 2014 #3 Posted March 6, 2014 And make sure you flip the air cleaner cover over, sounds tougher that way.
RedRider Posted March 7, 2014 #4 Posted March 7, 2014 And make sure you flip the air cleaner cover over, sounds tougher that way. :rotf: We did that with my Mom's Delta88. Outstanding. RR
Godlover Posted March 7, 2014 Author #7 Posted March 7, 2014 need some tapes? I will see, I am looking at it the afternoon
Black Owl Posted March 7, 2014 #8 Posted March 7, 2014 When I saw this thread my first thought was; Hey, you could come get the snow out of my driveway. Now that is a summer project......
Godlover Posted March 7, 2014 Author #9 Posted March 7, 2014 Our snow is almost gone! Finally! When I told my wife I was looking at it she said, "why don't you find a motorcycle to work on?" Gotta love her!
