Ron Melby Posted February 25, 2014 #1 Posted February 25, 2014 Last summer a member here posted a picture of his mother and him on a ride. I thought it was very cool, so just last fall I asked my mom who is 86 years old (looks young for her age) if she would care to go on a short ride with me. It took some doing to get her on the back seat, but after that, it was a great 1/2 hour ride through the country. She had never been on a motorcycle before this, and she was smiles the whole time. So glad my wife wanted to take the picture of us, a month later after this picture, mom got the cancer(still alive). I am great full for member who posted this originally to give me the idea for the ride and picture I will probably never forget.
bj66 Posted February 25, 2014 #2 Posted February 25, 2014 What a great memory to have a picture like that! One of the best half hours you'll ever have, and you have a photo of it!
bill in mn Posted February 25, 2014 #3 Posted February 25, 2014 That's great and we'll keep your in our prayers for a speedy recovery.
Riderduke Posted February 25, 2014 #4 Posted February 25, 2014 Sending prayers for you and your Mom for her recovery! I had the same opportunity a few years back. It was my Moms first ride great memory.
Eck Posted February 25, 2014 #5 Posted February 25, 2014 This is the one I posted last year. Something to frame and give to my son later in his life.
Bubber Posted February 25, 2014 #6 Posted February 25, 2014 I too was fortunate to talk my mother into a short ride on the back of my Harley back in about 1973. Never did get a picture of her on the bike, but I found out that day that she always wanted to learn to play drums too. Shocked, I never knew before that. The things our parents taught us and we never knew till later in life. Don't it make you wish you had paid attention back in the day. Sadly I will never get the chance to have these moments again. They may be gone but never forgotten. Bubber
SilvrT Posted February 25, 2014 #7 Posted February 25, 2014 I so wanted to take my mom-in-law (Nina's mom) for a ride but timing never seemed to work out (she lived far away). Unfortunately, and regrettably, I will never get that opportunity now as she passed on 2 years ago. Do it before you can't guys!
Eddie Posted February 25, 2014 #8 Posted February 25, 2014 I love this I dont think my mom would get on my bike at stage 4 but this is awesome
Mad Dog Posted February 25, 2014 #9 Posted February 25, 2014 Thanks awesome! We will be putting your Mom and the whole family on the prayer list. Expect a miracle!

You're very lucky to have a photo that you can cherish forever. I wish your mom the best, and no matter what she'll always have that memory of time spent with her son. Ted
Pic Posted February 25, 2014 #11 Posted February 25, 2014 Don't have a picture, but think my parents might. Will try to find one. Back in the early 70's my Dad rode a Yamaha RD 350 and Mom rode a Yamaha RD 250. I had a Yamaha 100 and a Honda 90 and my younger Brother had a Yamaha 50. My Grandfather had a Suzuki 90 with the big fat tires and my uncle had a Honda 350 scrambler. We would ride together whenever we got a chance. Mom crashed her bike at Camp Albert in Arkansa and ended up going to the hospital and getting gravel dug out of her leg and arm. She quit riding after that. Both mom and Dad are in there late 70s and I have tried to get them to ride with me but they say their riding days are long past.
Squidley Posted February 26, 2014 #12 Posted February 26, 2014 I was able to take 2 ladies, one of them my Dads sister (72 at the time) and his Mother In Law (80 at the time) on their 1st rides ever. It was a day I will never forget as we were at his annual family reunion/BBQ in '08. I took them both on about a 45 minute ride along Jefferson in St. Clair Shores (SE Michigan folks will know this area) It was fantastic for me to be able to take them on their 1st rides, I was as proud as a peacock Here is a pic of Dads MIL on her 2nd ride with me at a BBQ at our place in Michigan.
