Mad Dog Posted February 16, 2014 #1 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) We have a new horse in the barn... an '06 RSV; pretty happy. Thanks to all who passed on advice and opinions over the past two weeks or so. I have a few basic questions. The first is purly opinion but I want to ask. We were offered a tire and wheel warranty for five years @ $499. In your opinion is something like this worth it. Apparently it covers damage to tires and wheels, and even flats. Also has road service for the flats. What are some opinions? After looking over the bike again today, we found the front comm port. The previous owner had relocated it off the tank... but I couldn't find the rear comm port. At the riders left is a push to talk button, and a volume control (I think thats what they are), so where would the port be? The front port was open... shouldn't there be a rubber baby buggy bumper plugging it against dirt etc? So, I'm understanding that the radio and cassette and the aux input will play over the speakers or headset (is that correct, or just speakers?), what about the CB? Does that play over speakers or headset only? We have full face helmets, can anyone recommend what we should get for comms / CB headsets? I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking for or even where to look. I guess if I go bluetooth I can then answer my phone too, but for starters, lets say I'm not interested in that. Basic comms and CB... what do I need? Where do I look and get stuff? TIA - appreciate it! Edited February 16, 2014 by Mad Dog
Wade 2000 Posted February 16, 2014 #2 Posted February 16, 2014 Welcome to the forum! The front Com plug should have a dust plug in it. The rear should be located on the left side mounted on the rear fender between the side bag and the trunk. If you search headsets you will get an abundance of info and opinions. If you really want to save some cash and have some fun, pay the $12 membership:mo money: it will pay for itself over and over.
steamer Posted February 16, 2014 #3 Posted February 16, 2014 Happy to see you got it. The stock head set and mic are J&M. Probably the cheapest way to go but not the best. You will probably get a lot more input on this. you can listen to radio, cassette and cb over the speakers and head set.

Pegasus1300 Posted February 16, 2014 #5 Posted February 16, 2014 I would contact Sierra Electronics http://www.sierra-mc.com. Tell them your price range and they will give you some suggestions.
Gary N. Posted February 16, 2014 #6 Posted February 16, 2014 Welcome. I wouldn't waste your money on that tire deal. Just my opinion but for that much money you can buy and install a new set of tires and have enough left over to buy a road side assistance plan. I have Good Sam. They cover all of my vehicles including the bike for something like $80 / year. I think a little less for a multi year contract.
