Midrsv Posted March 3, 2008 #1 Posted March 3, 2008 While on Main street in Daytona today I snapped this photo of a Venture rider. Anyone know if he's a member here? DT
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 3, 2008 #2 Posted March 3, 2008 Speaking of that....I saw a Midnite Venture in New Mexico...cant remember whether it was in Mountainair or Willard...somewhere around there. This was this past Thursday I think...the days all run together sometimes. I wonder if that rider is on this website?
Squidley Posted March 3, 2008 #3 Posted March 3, 2008 He can't be a member here...there are still the Bridgestone tires on the front of that bike. He would have known to change them out a long time ago
Eck Posted March 3, 2008 #4 Posted March 3, 2008 Hell, he looks like me riding a black venture with out a helmet... It appears the eyebrows are removed, but not sure, and I do see some added accessories like the light bar, chrome domes over headlight and turn signals, shorter windshield, and riding pegs.. heck, it may be a rental??

Yeah And Squidley is only looking at tire....
Yammer Dan Posted March 3, 2008 #6 Posted March 3, 2008 Yeah And Squidley is only looking at tire.... Was thinking that before I got to your Post.... Can't understand that....
Guest Popeye Posted March 3, 2008 #7 Posted March 3, 2008 He can't be a member here...there are still the Bridgestone tires on the front of that bike. He would have known to change them out a long time ago I can understand that. I saw a Maroon/Black VR yesterday, wet from just being washed, & noticed it had Bridgestone tires on it [it is an oddity]. Also, the tread was near gone & figured he just had it delivered [flatbed trailer from eBay?] & washed it at the carwash near the Walgreens in Topeka he was parked at. No other reason to ride on any tires in that condition. I noticed he didn't have a rear IC control module, & was going to tell him where he could get one + ask if he knew about this site. But, wife came out & said to continue our errand list.
GigaWhiskey Posted March 3, 2008 #8 Posted March 3, 2008 Are Bridgestones normal on Yamaha's? I could swear that Bridgestones were on my '80 XS Eleven Standard before it left the showroom floor. I had them removed and Dunlops put on. I only ran on Dunlops and ContiTwins back then.
DragonRider Posted March 4, 2008 #9 Posted March 4, 2008 They be Dunlops, right from the factory, I am very glad of that, but they will be replaced with Avon Venom X when the time is right.....................
halfwitt Posted March 4, 2008 #10 Posted March 4, 2008 Don't know him but that looks like my wife in the background. Thought she was out of town on "business". hmmmm....
86er Posted March 4, 2008 #11 Posted March 4, 2008 I was thinking about starting a post about a silver 2nd gen that I saw yesterday. I was riding with a friend, south on I75 out of Marietta, Ga. at about 9:45am. There was heavy traffic and he was a couple of cars ahead of me in the left lane. Then he moved to the right a few lanes and I waved as I went by. Was that anyone here?
stardbog Posted March 4, 2008 #12 Posted March 4, 2008 BRICKStones are comming as stock tires on new Venture. Thats worst tire i ever have... period.
Midrsv Posted March 5, 2008 Author #13 Posted March 5, 2008 I've got Bridgestones on my '07 which was purchased in Oct. They will be coming off when I get home with only about 3500 miles on them. I don't like the way they ride and they would have been switched earlier if it had been at the peak of riding season. DT
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 5, 2008 #14 Posted March 5, 2008 Not sayin yall are confused....but yall are confused...my new Venture came factory fresh with Dunlop D404's.
Jethroish Posted March 5, 2008 #15 Posted March 5, 2008 Not sayin yall are confused....but yall are confused...my new Venture came factory fresh with Dunlop D404's. Mine came new with Dunlops, also, in March 2007.
halfwitt Posted March 5, 2008 #16 Posted March 5, 2008 August '07 (though I don't know date of mfg at the moment) factory Bridgestones.
hillrider Posted March 5, 2008 #17 Posted March 5, 2008 86er, that was me. I was out in search of icemaker parts, and it was to too nice to do it in a cage. I met you at Earl Smalls, on the last ride to the Capital. I'm sorry about your friend.
86er Posted March 5, 2008 #18 Posted March 5, 2008 I remember meeting you Chuck. It was too nice to cage it but that traffic really sucked! I tried to raise you on channel 29, but I guess you didn't have the cb on. When I was trying to call you the guy I was riding with said "Has that ever worked?" I had to say no! So far I haven't had any luck reaching anybody on a Venture unless it's on the way to a M&E. Thanks for the condolences. I hope you can make it Saturday.
Guest Popeye Posted March 5, 2008 #19 Posted March 5, 2008 When I got my new '97 wing last month, it had decent Dunlop E2s on it, but I didn't know their history [hit pothole at 50 mph, etc.] so I just had new E3s put on, Odessey pc680 battery [came with unknown battery], Brakes, & misc. I'd like to considerably reduce my 'Roadside time' this year.
