Hear say only....

I heard they knew they were building that museum on a possible sink hole and back then, before they began, they didn't care because they were able to purchase the land pretty cheap............:whistling:

As someone on the Aussie site you linked commented, they didn't even bother to put rebar in the slab when they built it. The commenter said "third world builder" and I tend to agree.

Some very expensive Corvettes are laying in a pile at the bottom of a 40 foot sinkhole. I am posting the best video I have found that even has a drone camera going down into the hole.

I didn't see a video from the link.

It took a minute before the video showed up. Something about the way the page loads up I guess. I scrolled down to see if it was at the bottom and when I scrolled back up, it was there.

Have to agree on the poor construction..... but it looks like they will be able to buff them Vetts up.

At least none of the good older ones went down.... not been a fan of the "new" Vetts although the 2014s do look very impressive.

Watched the video several times. No mater what I do I can't download it and blow it up or slow it down frame by frame, some weird encoding.

Look carefully no damage evident on cars crinkled fender broken glass nothing.

Detailed models? Even look at the floor pieces and lack of dust cloud.

Just thinking here not saying it is or isn't

Look closer

All of the cars except the blue one have visible damage.

There is a pile of shattered window glass just below the black car.

The red car standing on its nose has damage the the back end also.

I was also surprised at the lack of visible major damage.

But then fiberglass does not wrinkle up like sheet metal does, it just kind of crushes and disintegrates at the point of impact.

I am sure they will be trying to figure out how to get a crane of some sort in there to lift them out with the minimum of additional damage.

IIRC there was a sink hole many years ago in FL where there was a new Porsche sitting perfectly on its slab at the bottom of the hole. The insurance co brought in a helicopter or crane to pluck it out with no damage to repair.

Going back and looking at MidLifeVenture's site posting, there are now about 6 different drone videos.

There is no telling at this time how much bigger of a hole there still is below what we can see here. It is obvious there is still a cave by looking into the holes around the perimeter. This part of the country is known for caves and I don't think it is very far to Mammoth Cave.

On another site I go on, this is being discussed and there has been a big discussion about this being a hoax. I can not understand that thinking, but is even in the comments in the noted website. If you look at the 62 Corvette, it looks like the body is curved and bowed. There are at least three or four cars that are completely covered.

It will be interesting to see how this will be handled and to see how many of the cars they even try to pull out.

Well, they have now retrieved the blue one and it appears to have minimal damage. After it was pulled out, it was started up, but they had to cut it off because as they pulled it forward, it had a real bad oil leak. The 93 burgundy one was pulled out and put on a flatbed truck. The black 62 was pulled out today and was in better shape than anticipated, but will need a lot of fiberglass repair.

I suspect the rest will be a lot worse.

Yup! The other ones are at least partially buried...

They are probably going to have to do it like when they are digging up dinosaur bones, real slow. I wonder if they are going to allow people to get down in the hole without being tethered. In the video I saw earlier, it looked like everything was being done by guys in a cage hooked to the crane.
