I've got the carbs rebuilt and ready to put back on the bike. I tried to twist the throttle with carbs removed and it is very stiff. I'm thinking I should clean the twist grip and the cables.

Am I reading correctly when I read there are 4 throttle cables on this bike? What do I have to remove in order to get these cables moving freely?

Are there any resources available on this site or the internet that shows step by step what to do?

Thanks,

sounds like the cable may have come off the wheel in the box where the cruise control cable goes into just my guess that box should be near the coils check that first and also lube your cable with a good lube while your there others with more knowledge will chime in in a bit also that box will be on the left side towards the front sitting on the bike

my throttle cables were sticky, take off gas tank, there is a plastic cover up front that needs to come off to follow cables down to box. All on left side. there is a tech forum on this in the tech section. i lubed my cables n it solved my problem, had to take right hand grip apart also. not to complicated, but time consuming. be very careful bout tak'n juntion box apart,(1 with 4 cables in it), spring inside!!! pay close attention to how all comes apart so you know how it all goes back together. Good luck!:thumbsup2::2cents:

Thanks folks, all good advice.

Got to tinkering a bit and found what looks like an adjustment on one of the cables as it comes off the twist grip. It has what I call a thumb wheel at the end of an adjuster. I turned a bit just to see what it did and what do you know? The cable got looser. Turned it a bit more and it got looser still. I don't know what that's for, but the the twist grip moves freely now.

Now, I can put the carbs back on and feel like I'll have some control over them.

Thanks again,

Richard
