KIC Posted February 6, 2014 #1 Posted February 6, 2014 So my son was brought this "thing" and the guy was wondering what it was. Nobody has been able to identify it. Anybody have an idea what it is ? I have no further info, not even sure if it is a auto related or anything...
bongobobny Posted February 6, 2014 #2 Posted February 6, 2014 Hmmm, I'm thinking some kind of pulley, it's alodined so it has to be weather resistant... Obviously part of something else.
Aussie Annie Posted February 6, 2014 #6 Posted February 6, 2014 That fall off a Harley? Mike Keep ya self nice!!
Kirby Posted February 6, 2014 #7 Posted February 6, 2014 Quantum flux capacitor??? Or maybe a Seafoam injector coil??
Trader Posted February 6, 2014 #8 Posted February 6, 2014 2nd the ratchet strap idea. Then again......it looks like a paddle wheel.....thought it might be a pump of some kind but there is no real gasket surface
Flyinfool Posted February 6, 2014 #9 Posted February 6, 2014 With the finish on it, it almost looks to be aircraft related. The tooth shape of the wheel does make it look to be some sort of ratchet. It looks like something that the big screw slot on the side was used often. Right now it looks to be a nice paper weight / conversation piece for your desk.
cowpuc Posted February 6, 2014 #10 Posted February 6, 2014 With the finish on it, it almost looks to be aircraft related. Always wondered what happened to parts falling off aircraft,,,, sure am glad it didnt land on someones head!!
Flyinfool Posted February 6, 2014 #11 Posted February 6, 2014 Always wondered what happened to parts falling off aircraft,,,, sure am glad it didnt land on someones head!! Harley don't make aircraft.....
cowpuc Posted February 6, 2014 #12 Posted February 6, 2014 Harley don't make aircraft..... Oh yea,,,,, havent read anything about laws against shipping HD parts via aircraft:stirthepot:
ragtop69gs Posted February 6, 2014 #13 Posted February 6, 2014 It's a flatulence dissipation subduction motor impeller rotor. Apparently either the highly acidic environment in which it resided caused the dissolution of the housing and mounting brackets or excessively high pressure caused it to separate from it's owner. Excessive flatulence can cause enormous discomfort and distress, mainly when there are other people around.
Mike G in SC Posted February 6, 2014 #14 Posted February 6, 2014 Missing parts? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5c/C-3PO_droid.png
etcswjoe Posted February 6, 2014 #15 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Harley don't make aircraft..... They don't make them but their engines are in some. http://www.skyray.us/index.htm Edited February 6, 2014 by etcswjoe
bongobobny Posted February 6, 2014 #16 Posted February 6, 2014 Oh great! Now Harley parts will be falling from the sky...
KIC Posted February 6, 2014 Author #18 Posted February 6, 2014 Unfortunately, I can't get any more pictures. My son works part time at an auto parts store so it was a one time thing when it was brought in. He took the pictures and sent them to me. The aircraft part makes sense, just thought I would throw it out there and stimulate the frozen brains of our eastern family...
bongobobny Posted February 6, 2014 #19 Posted February 6, 2014 Part of a ratcheting tie down also makes sense...
stardbog Posted February 6, 2014 #20 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) ASK ECK :rotf::rotc: For you guy's who doesn't know Eck, … to bad. Looks to me like fishing reel or something. Edited February 6, 2014 by stardbog
AKRefugee Posted February 7, 2014 #23 Posted February 7, 2014 Well I could disclose what it is but then you would have to deal with black helicopters and SUVs following you everywhere, although it may be to late already. Just think of it as "something you don't really want to know about.". Ride Happy Ride Safe
KIC Posted February 7, 2014 Author #24 Posted February 7, 2014 Well I could disclose what it is but then you would have to deal with black helicopters and SUVs following you everywhere, although it may be to late already. Just think of it as "something you don't really want to know about.". Ride Happy Ride Safe We did know what it was, but then they flashed that pen thing in our eyes and .... ......What were we talking about ?
baylensman Posted February 7, 2014 #25 Posted February 7, 2014 To me it look like an Airdrive motor. Used in areas where sparks can't be present a stream of compress air drives against the center and a belt rides against the two outer sheave areas.
