mini-muffin Posted February 2, 2014 #1 Posted February 2, 2014 Ok so Punxsutawney Phil, Gen.Beauregard Lee have both seen their shadows. Our groundhog hasn't done his thing yet. Evidently he doesn't check it out till around noon. Oh and his name is Sir Walter Wally (cute huh). Guess he parties too much the night before. So according to those who have gotten up it's gonna be 6 more weeks of winter. Dang!! Margaret
oldgoat Posted February 2, 2014 #3 Posted February 2, 2014 dang 6 more weeks of winter. but if I was that ground hog. and you woke me up while I was sound a sleep. by pulling me out of my nice warm bed. I would give you some bad news too.
cowpuc Posted February 2, 2014 #5 Posted February 2, 2014 They make good sausage... I got chur 6 more weeks of winter right here Phillll,,, .22-250, 200 yards, cakes all dough... Never met a ground hog I trusted with my riding future!! Now that little curly haired girl singing "the sun will come out tomorrow",, her I trust :cool10:
Skid Posted February 3, 2014 #6 Posted February 3, 2014 You all can have six more weeks, but French Creek Freddie did not see his shadow today in West Virginia. And his rating is higher than the Puttsylvania's ground hog.
MidlifeVenture Posted February 3, 2014 #7 Posted February 3, 2014 Buckeye Chuck saw no shadow so the rest of winter is going to jump over Ohio.
Stanman Posted February 3, 2014 #8 Posted February 3, 2014 I guess its nice to dream, but here the reality is its more than 6 weeks of winter every year regardless of an overgrown gopher not seeing his shadow.
Pegasus1300 Posted February 3, 2014 #9 Posted February 3, 2014 Well six more weeks of snow would be great here in Utah.We are in the midst of the worse drought in longer then most can remember.I know it will be hard to not be riding but the people and the animals really need the water. many farmer are on the verge of loosing everything.
mini-muffin Posted February 3, 2014 Author #11 Posted February 3, 2014 Well Sir Walter Wally here in NC agweed (sorry couldn't resist that one) that it'll be 6 more weeks. Not sure if that's gonna be more snow I hope not. You folks out west can have it and do us all a favor and keep the stuff no more sharing. Margaret
Marcarl Posted February 3, 2014 #12 Posted February 3, 2014 So if I have it right,,, the hog seen his shadow, so that gives us 6 more weeks of winter. That's good, because for me that means 6 more weeks of moving the white stuff around, and it's taking longer and longer to do so,,,, pile areas are getting full. Now if he had not seen his shadow, spring would be here in 6 weeks,,, that would be a bummer,,, because then in 6 weeks I would have to find something else to keep me entertained. As usual, I like to read my post before I post it, to make sure everything is in it's place and there is a place for everything,,,,, now I'm wondering,,, what's the difference if he seen his shadow or not???? Now I'm confused and I wrote it myself,,,, lucky I got a room at the Oberlin,,, or did I,,,can somebody check????
Flyinfool Posted February 3, 2014 #13 Posted February 3, 2014 Yup around here 6 more weeks of winter would mean an early spring.
AGrengs Posted February 4, 2014 #15 Posted February 4, 2014 Yup around here 6 more weeks of winter would mean an early spring. We could hibernate for 6 weeks and still have 6 more weeks of winter after that.
Black Owl Posted February 4, 2014 #16 Posted February 4, 2014 Our ground hog didn't think it was worth the effort to dig himself out from under the snow and ice.
Trader Posted February 4, 2014 #17 Posted February 4, 2014 lucky I got a room at the Oberlin,,, or did I,,,can somebody check???? With rambling posts like that Carl I'm sure the people in the white coats could find a room for you!
