Prairiehammer Posted January 25, 2014 #30 Posted January 25, 2014 was the first to yours this engine configuration While the pictured bike is a Lilac (Marusho) with the transverse V-twin, I believe the first motorcycle to use that longitudinal V-twin was the Indian 841 (c.1940). It was intended for the US Army. It had shaft drive, too.

Prairiehammer Posted January 25, 2014 #39 Posted January 25, 2014 Definitely a Henderson side valve. Model K. Circa 1925? Has some similarities to the Henderson KJ (chain guard, front end) that was introduced in 1929, but engine is a Model K.
Prairiehammer Posted January 25, 2014 #40 Posted January 25, 2014 Much newer than most of the previous motorcycles in this thread, so some of you may have even seen one. Pretty rare, though.

Pegasus1300 Posted January 27, 2014 #49 Posted January 27, 2014 yes but it was a prototype not a production bike well cort though so can you stump us whith one It actually did go into very limited production. Most of the units were ordered by the Army Air Corp and used as messenger bikes stateside. I had on at one time(1969 -70) Sold it for tuition money to some collector in Cal. I was only missing one of the drivw train parts and he said he had a supply.
Pegasus1300 Posted January 27, 2014 #50 Posted January 27, 2014 Here's any easy one: Yes it is a Hurricane but it used the BSA motor and was designed by Craig Vetter and produced by Triumph. The BSA motor had the cylinders inclined forward at about a 20* angle while Triumph motors were straight up.
