That graphic is incorrect, there was no 1977 Z1R. The first year of production was for model year 1978. Further, there was no 1979 Z1R in the US. The 1980 Z1R was substantially different from the 1978. Bigger tank, black paint, different exhaust, different engine.

Like I said, I had a 1978: VIN KZT00D000735. Needed money, so I sold it to a kid who promptly rear ended a car and totaled it.

the brits were still selling them in 83-84

so dates vary depending on markets

we only got the 2 hear the z1r and then the z1r mk11

so hears a comparasin of the 2 i like the z1r myself nice silver

Were the Brits selling them as 1983s and 1984s or as 1980 Models? I know the Germans got what looked like a US 1978 Z1R, but it was called a 1979. There was also a German market Z1000S that looked like a 1978 Z1R but it had four pipes and no Z1R tag.
