OrlinEngh Posted January 20, 2014 #3 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Will be gathering parts soon since forward controls is the only way I'll be able to keep my Gen 1.2. What have ya got? Get ahold of 920shrek1 [Ken] he used the controls off of a 2nd gen worked very nice. Maybe he will let you know just what parts you may need. Orlin Edited January 20, 2014 by OrlinEngh
syscrusher Posted January 23, 2014 Author #4 Posted January 23, 2014 Thanks Orlin! Ken said he would send me some photos. I won the bid on a set of floorboards with controls and from the looks of them I'm practically there. I'm pretty stoked right now.
syscrusher Posted January 23, 2014 Author #6 Posted January 23, 2014 Thanks Dan, if you're not just being funny, let me see how difficult the ones I bid on look when they get here. Got any pics?
Yammer Dan Posted January 23, 2014 #7 Posted January 23, 2014 Thanks Dan, if you're not just being funny, let me see how difficult the ones I bid on look when they get here. Got any pics? I'm not sure what I got right now and that bike is in a buddies garage. But I couldn't part with them. They are on "Ugly" my 2nd best 1st Gen. I'm thinking Heel-Toe shifter and brake is raised to clear boards??? Can't really remember without looking.
syscrusher Posted January 23, 2014 Author #8 Posted January 23, 2014 Heres some pics of the ones I won. From the looks of it this project will be easier than I thought.
coop Posted January 24, 2014 #9 Posted January 24, 2014 Just curious....when you guys say forward, how far forward are you talking? Like Hiway Peg forward? Coop
syscrusher Posted January 24, 2014 Author #10 Posted January 24, 2014 I'll probably be mounting mine pretty near where the lower leading curve of the frame is. With the angled extenders on the boards I bought it should move them toward me just about the right amount. The boards themselves will probably be around 45 degrees to the ground. I might put a couple sets of holes in the mounting plates so that I can adjust them. Of course the object for me will be to get my legs into a position that keeps my thighs in contact with the seat to distribute my weight. Does that help?
Tattoolimbo Posted August 27, 2018 #11 Posted August 27, 2018 so the thread is so old that no pics work for me. Did this ever get solved? I am desperate for forward controls on my 1987 Standard. If the second gen forwards bolt right on that would be awesome but it cant be that easy.
