Several days ago I started having a computer problem that will not let me get on VR.org with one of my laptops. I have two Acer laptops, one I have had for about two years and another used one I got recently, both have windows 7. My older one is faster, but only on VR.org does it have a window come up that locks everything up. I have to do the Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to Start Task Manager, where I can close out VR.org and then I can go on to do other things. This is the only site that this comes up.

I ran a scan and everything is clean and have tried to restore to an earlier date, but it told me the restore was unsuccessful.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Hey Randy, I wonder if switching browsers would help.. I had all kinds of weird stuff going on till I jumped to Firefox :confused24:

Also, might wanna try dumping the cache - history, cookies and all that and doing a defrag on her, could just have a little constipation going on... If all else fails, get everything backed up that you wanna save and do a re-install...

Your a Venture Rider brother,, dont take no lip from no computer,,,,,,,, boy I hope it aint some stupid virus that we all got for talking bad about Harleys or 2nd gens or something - karma's funny that way..:rotf::rotf:

Little reminder bro, ya also might wanna clean the internals on the machine too, I have an old one that was giving me fits and found out I was over heating the old girl - thing had more lint than a dryer vent..

In Internet explorer you can do a reset which should take care of it. Go to "tools" then "Internet Options" In the new window that comes up go to the last tab and near the bottom is a button to "reset" When I do that the next screen has a check to remove personal data. It would mean that you would have to put in your username and passwords again anywhere that you have them saved. I usually do that as well.

IE is buggy. Windows is buggy. Load up Linux.

Oh...just in case you dont want to swap out operating systems....just go to http://www.mozilla.org and get a copy of Firefox.

If you’re the stubborn type thinking its worth some time to fix your buggy IE...here are a couple of websites I googled up. It seems to be related to add-ons that you may have installed:

Good idea. Can also get to it from Control Panel, Internet Options, if you do not want IE open while you do the same procedure.

Randy A, I can PM you some other Windows tools I have mentioned before.

OK, I think we may have it. I went thru the discussions from the website tx2 posted and it appears I have stopped the popup that was locking me up. Several of the ones noted was exactly the same problem. I ended up going into programs and features and uninstalling some privacy things.

Thanks everyone, especially tx2sturgis.:cool10:
