I need to remove the trunk lid on a 2006 RSV. Could someone help me on how to remove the plastic hinge covers. Do they just pop off? The seem very tight and I don't want to force them.

Hi Mark.

No they don´t pop off. The two screws that hold the plastic covers are hidden behind the hinges.

You start by removing the upper three (3) bolts for each hinge from the inside of the trunk lid. Then the hinges are free with the plastic covers attached and you can lift the lid off. If you want to remove the plastic covers then you have access to the screws after lifting the lid away. Here is a picture of the assembly.

Note: When reinstalling the trunk lid have somebody help you line the bolt holes in the lid lup with the threads in the hinges. Make sure you have gotten all the bolts started in the threads before doing any tightening. There is very little free play with the hinge screws, but still some. You might want to make sure that the lid lines up perfectly with the bottom and is easy to close and open. If not then loosen all the screws and adjust.
