bj66 Posted January 16, 2014 #1 Posted January 16, 2014 If any of you southerners out there happen to see any pieces of an 8 x 8 modular plastic storage shed blowing past you, please give me a call. You will know it is mine because there will be about a 3 foot square chunk of shingles from my house roof accompanying it. Apparently neither could withstand 70mph wind gusts last night. Its nice out today though, probly only blowing about 40 mph.....this winter is getting long, might have to go out and start the bike in the garage. Maybe that will help.......
Flyinfool Posted January 16, 2014 #2 Posted January 16, 2014 Neither your shed or roof came by here. You roof may have gone to the same place mine did last winter..... I had to to that over the weekend. Started the bike and let it warm up thru two cycles of the cooling fan. It sat out in all of that Arctic Vortex -20° crap, has not even been seen by human eyes since last October, no charger or tender, started right up after 2 cycles of the switch to fill the float bowls. Sure felt good to at least hear it run. If it ever warms up at least a little, I really should start doing my winter upgrade plans.
sarges46 Posted January 16, 2014 #3 Posted January 16, 2014 Had much the same here! I staked our shed down so it's still in the backyard. Supposed to drive school bus today but we got shut down because of the blowing snow.

I hadn't seen it yet but, I'll keep my eyes open. Did you say that the last time it was seen it was headed South or Southeast.

I always stop there for a cool off swim in the Missouri and will look around for it this summer if needed.. Oh yea, thats an awesome looking Tourglide/Roadglide your riding there buddy!!!

Years ago when I played American Legion Baseball, we road tripped down there and played them (one of our coaches was origionally from there.) We went swimming in the river there too. We actually were jumping of a cliff bank into the main channel anywhere from 25 to about 45 feet up into the water. Another kid jumped off the railroad bridge (you can get arrested if they catch you). That is about 60 to 80 feet up in the air. He wore tennis shoes because the water hurts your feet when you hit. We also had a boat there for him to get into......Young and dumb, but it sure was fun.

Ways from ya but never hurts to ask.. Years ago while on my way out to Sturgis on my 69 Honda/Santee Chop I had an oil line come off out in the middle Cowboy country SD.. A young man named Mitch stopped and offered help (even offered to store my bike and give me a ride to a bus station - GREAT folks you Dakodains are).. Engine siezed, while waiting for it to cool we went and got oil, came back, put it in 4th and rocked it, got it free'd up, reattached the hose and finished the ride.. Anyway, I always stop at Draper when I am out there.. Couple years later I am out there in Draper talking to the locals and come to find out this Mitch worked for one of them, I will never forget what the wife of the guy who Mitch worked said when she seen my surprised look,,,, I quote "not much out here, I think everybody in South Dakota knows everybody in South Dakota"..

Although not a cow town, it is a little farm town (under 100 people). Main street is gravel, and the only businesses we have left are a bee company, and a bar. Folks are real friendly here too. I think the people around here are still raised with good values passed down through the generations. Not saying others arent, but when your communities are small, you put differences aside because you all need to work together to make your communities work. Helping each other out is normal, and especially out west near Draper people in trouble can be in serious trouble if the locals dont lend a hand. Great to read the story, made me smile!
