So, were now in 2014. Its promising to be a good year for me. Lets see.....sold the RSV and will pay off the house..so far so good, kinda sorta. Then wifey decided to break some more teeth and now wants implants again (dental to you pervs). So thats 7k in the pipeline. Then a close relative died Monday after a lengthy stay in a nursing home. She had Alzheimer's pretty bad. But wait, it gets better.....took my Trailblazer with 166k on the clock out today in the cold...yes it was in the 20's here in Florida. Went about a mile and BANG....the sun case inside the trans let loose. Lost 1-2-3 gear and reverse. Limped home and got estimates from 750 to 1700. Looked around for a later model Trailblazer but was unable to find any in the area under 100k miles. Did find one with 55k miles but dealer wanted almost 3k over high KBB retail price. Told him to stuff it. Called up some of the dealers that I dealt with over the years. Got some decent prices on newer Ford Edges but by the time everything was figured in the monthly payments would be over 360 bucks again. Sooooo, that rebuilt trans is looking better then ever.....OH yea...did I say that after dealing with Allstate for almost 30 years they sent me a possible non-renewal notice on my homeowners insurance because I have a flat roof over the garage. No issues with it but its a new tactic to rid themselves of policies.

Hope your year is going better.

Cluster around here too Ruff. Just think we got 11 and 1/2 more months to go!! Ain't it sweet!! I can't seem to get anything done. Sometimes wish all my bikes were gone. Not getting attention they should. But I swear next week......I'm gonna......take a nap!!!

Hang in there buddy.

Ruffy, even at 1700 it is cheaper than a new rig. It will be a cold day in hell before I buy new again. Never, never, never, never, never.

I can still find really good, reasonable mileage behicles for $5000 at the MOST. Last car, 1998 Ford Taurus with 54,000 geezer miles was $3200 all in. Including all new brakes, tires and a gas tank. Nope, it's not new, it's not fancy. But I handed over the money and it's mine. I would hop in it and drive to anywhere right now. Well, after the snow stops. Why do I live near Tug Hill?

Hey Jeff, you and your wife are still alive and you both have a roof over your head and you are free to do as you please so who could ask for more?!!?

We never seem to have enough money yet things have a way of working out...:banana:

Is the roof attached too, or a Built on ?????

If its built on a Licensed Roofer can sign you off, as an attachment. they can not dismiss you is a State Roofer signs you off.:thumbsup2:

Just got the SUV back from the shop. 2300 bucks for a complete Jasper trans with 3 yr/100k warranty nationwide. Alvies trans in Jacksonville is a pretty good shop to deal with. Extremely clean shop/work area. Took the car in late Wed and called me at 2 pm today to pick it up. Runs real good now. I just hope I can squeeze another 100k out of it. Got someone coming in Monday to look at the roof. They may have to pitch it to keep it from ponding. They get you every which way.

Seems to me I head a news story somewhere along the line that the flat roof thing was a way some of the insurnace companies were nix on older homes here in Fla. they figure I guess that the older homes have flat roofs, which alot did. But flat roof discription would also cover mobile homes and that is what they really want to rid themselves of.

Yep. plenty to search on. Seems the flat roof issue isnt limited to Florida though. My flat roof is attached to the house but its over the garage. My ins agent gave me a side step kind of answer to my inquiry so im stopping in there on Monday for a face to face. I want a commitment from them in writing stating that exactly what repairs they are seeking and if I correct them will my policy be renewed? Im not going to drop more on the house if they wont back me up.
