Dragonslayer Posted January 7, 2014 #1 Posted January 7, 2014 About our 12 month riding season down here in Georgia:7_6_3[1]: But, I stand corrected, not this week. No way I'm riding in negative windchill and single digit temperatures:snow2: Forecast predicts 60 degrees on Saturday with rain. Maybe next week
GAWildKat Posted January 7, 2014 #2 Posted January 7, 2014 Oh come on Bob, you just need to get the heated gear out and live a little, after all, there's people who would go hunting in this weather all over the country lol.
Flyinfool Posted January 7, 2014 #3 Posted January 7, 2014 I'm looking forward to it warming up to single digit temps with no minus sign in front of them. Yes I have been out hunting from sunrise to sunset in -25°F with 20 mph wind. Out all day and stayed nice and warm. But I did kind of look like an orange Michelin man ..... I did break out my big coat for today, It is a coat that I bought when I used to ride all winter no mater how cold it got. I have not worn that coat in 20 years because till now it has not been cold enough to put it on. I can not wear this coat if it will be above zero. Hmmmmm...... Seems I may have been a little smaller when I last wore this coat......

Got the coat on but it was tight. Needed that setup to blow snow yesterday. Larry
jonesy Posted January 7, 2014 #5 Posted January 7, 2014 I got some of them overalls, use them to snow blow most of the time. bought them in 06' in Cinncy, OH. I rode there one year in Oct., not bad going there, but turned to 20's and 30's for ride back to MA., got them and 2 prs. gloves and did the ride home in the coolest 800 miles ever did.
CaptainJoe Posted January 7, 2014 #6 Posted January 7, 2014 It's those dang Wommen! Washing our clothes in hot water then drying on high, just to shrink them.
Rick Haywood Posted January 7, 2014 #7 Posted January 7, 2014 Still waiting for it to get above 0 degrees here
mm482 Posted January 7, 2014 #8 Posted January 7, 2014 It was 60* here yesterday and 15* today!!!! Sure glad the heat is working well so far. Earl
Evan Posted January 7, 2014 #9 Posted January 7, 2014 Sure envy you guys living in warmer area. Woke up yesterday to a cold and snowy mess. So much snow that my two portable garages for storing some of my toys including a boat, snowmobile, bike trailer and riding mower came down under the weight of the snow. Lots of damage and the portables are also destroyed as you can see from the pics. Lucky for me I decided to not store one of my 1st gen's there also.

Maybe next week I knew it, I just knew it,,, here we have been blaming our northern brothers for this crazy weather and all this time it was Dragonslayers fault... Funny I didnt take you as the bragging type Bob but hey, cant judge a book by its cover I guess... Got an idea Dragonslayer,, since its all your doings why dont you start a new thread openly bragging about how wonderfully freezing cold it is and how much you love it, wish it would stay like this all year and on and on.. Maybe some reverse bragging psychology would fool mother nature..

Are you sure we don't stretch you in some sort of odd machine that causes the belly to overlap the belt buckle? Just wondering, since we're getting the blame for it. Maybe we're doing both. shrink the clothes (so we can wear them) and enlarge the men we live with.:crackup::crackup::crackup::crackup: Margaret

I been saying that for years!! Its all the Warden's fault!!If she didn't cook so good I wouldn't be in this shape. When the family started with "Look what you've done to him. He looks great. " I WAS DONE!!

Seems I may have been a little smaller when I last wore this coat...... I was issued a high tech coat when I ran the maintenance crews at Hartsfield Int. Airport that is rated to -50. I wore it today. That was probably a mistake because it is so warm that that even outside in 8 degrees you can't stand to wear it for more than a few minutes before you are sweating. The duster probably would have been fine.

That sucks for you but, Hey that's the same type of shed that's covering my bike. Sure hope it don't snow down here. The cold is bad enough.

I have two of those garages and they work great and hold to snow load IF :::: You must take nylon rope and string it length wise on both sides of the roof under the cover, Two lines each side of slope. This will stop the snow load from tearing your cover. what also helps is to use the cheap insulated pipe covering, the stuff that is about 4 feet long and you split it down the middle, then cover all the top metal structure with them, both mine have that same amount of frozen snow on them right now and are holding strong. Just some info for you, BTW and new cover only shipped to you from them is $200 I keep one 66 Beetle in one and one 67 Beetle in the other with power to both garages for the tenders and lights. My garage sizes are 12X24 Approximant Life span 6 years Another option in the future is to get the DOME type top. Jeff Edited January 8, 2014 by Cougar
Dragonslayer Posted January 9, 2014 Author #22 Posted January 9, 2014 OK the polar vortex thing has moved through. Looks like I'll be getting some ride time in this weekend after all.
Howard B Posted January 9, 2014 #23 Posted January 9, 2014 I broke out my P-coat from my NAVY days. I got it on. However, I don't recall it fitting that tight before. I figure it must be something in the closet that's making things shrink. My eating habits aren't that bad, are they?
