in eastern North Carolina than in many places in the Midwest right now. But, those mid 60's won't last much longer.

Yesterday, here in east Tennessee, we were seeing temps in the mid 50's until late last night and this morning it is upper 20's and will get colder as the day goes on. We will be down to about -2 by tonight, but back again to the mid 50's in a couple days.

Hope everyone out there stays safe as this can be killer weather, literally, especially with wind chills.

We're in the 60's on the coast going down to 16 tonight. That's a heck of a drop. On the upside after tomorrow we head back up in temps. Back up to the upper 50's low 60's by the weekend.

Yeah, I was thinking about you when I posted this. We are pretty lucky compared to the Mid-westerner's. Our temps have dropped 5 degrees since I first posted this.

Definitely better off. We'll only be cold for a short snap. Them folks up north are freezing their butts: I'd say off but don't think they'll fall off just freeze on. :)

I remember going from San Antonio, TX to Rantoul, Ill in March 69, going from basic training to tech school in the USAF and when I got there, I thought I would freeze to death. I remember thinking that if it this cold in March, it should not be so hot in the summer. Boy, was I wrong. :whistling:

I would kill for 23 degrees right now or even 16.

Its -17 here at work and it is still dropping.

Unfortunately butts do not freeze off, but other parts do:whistling:

But it is supposed to get hot out by the end of the week, they are saying we might even get above freezing.:whistling:

I thought we were very clear to all of them canuks to keep the back door closed and keep all of their air up there. They obviously have not listened very well.

Yes we do get extremes here, the annual temp spread is around 140 degrees from the coldest to the hottest. And with those great lakes we have no problems generating humidity just to make it more fun. But it is still better than down south.

Randy I entered the USAF in Jan of 78. Comming from Fl about the second week it got cold. To me it was really cold and of course thy dont really give you any cold gear just a field jacket. There was a bout 3 weeks of that bitter wind blowing cold. I got so sick I got to spend 2 extra weeks in joyus San Antonio to get well. Then up to Witchata Falls Tx. Pretty dang cold there while I was there too but atleast I could go and buy some warm clothes.

Having grown up here in the Mid West I am used to the bitter cold.. We were always told that these sub zero temps could cause mental issues but I have personally never experienced this..

I just came inside from cleaning snow out of the driveway, I noticed 1's and 0's, a bunch of 1's and 0's covering everything everywhere.. Little tiny black specks all over in the snow,, since the beginning of the digital age the population of these little black specks during our wonderful sub zero weather has increased dramatically..

I am sure most people just take the freezing of digital signal in stride but to me it's a real problem.. They are very slippery, the 1's have sharp edges that can hurt you if you dont have shoes on, cars dont run right, TV pictures get all scrambled and I bet even our gas bills will be higher because of the missing 1's and 0's needed to control the modern digital meters..

My forehead hurts, I think its thawing out cause it stings.. and I cant feel my toes but I think I can feel someone elses toes on my feet..

Record 9 degrees for Charlotte tonight, but I am 30 miles west and a bit north and live in the country. I expect the low to 6 degrees here over night. Got the diesel truck plugged in and will run heat in the garage tonight so my wife's car will have a chance.

It is still better than living in Nebraska as a younger person.

Yep, I think you have convinced me this may cause mental issues.:whistling:

My son recorded a video of what happens to a cupful of hot water tossed into the air at -17 today in Madison Wisconsin. I wish I could get the link on here but can't get it so take my word for it. It turned into ice crystals in mid air.

This morning in my area there were reports of -58 below windchill at 7 a.m. I love winter, but this sucks.........

It's a weird winter. We hit 27 (I know a heat wave for some of you) We were down around 16 this morning. But saturday they have us hitting 70. We were in the 60's yesterday. Talk about roller coaster temps.
