Pretty cool!

archive.org has been preserving websites since 1996....just for fun I dialed up venturerider.org and found this site as it existed in August of 2004:

https://web.archive.org/web/20040812002827/http://www.venturerider.org/

A few of the subpages still work too! This was about 3 years before I discovered the Venturerider website and came on board.

Pretty cool place to visit...remember when myspace looked like this:

https://web.archive.org/web/20040804022958/http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=splash

Curiously, Facebook is unavailable for archiving. Oh well, nothing there worth looking at anyway!

:duck:

Harley-Davidsons first webpage basically told you to go away and ride.....I actually remember visiting that page in the early days of the interweb...

Ah....memories.....

That's pretty cool. A lot of changes since then but I think that the basic principals are still valid. I know that there are a few who don't agree but I think we have stayed pretty true to the mission.

Well that sure answered a bunch of questions for me Brian.... For instance, I always wondered why folks around here call Don "boss".. Now I know..

And I quote:

There will be no "bosses" here. Nobody to decide what is best for you. YOU will be involved in the direction that this site goes and your input and questions are welcome.

What the heck, its winter, cant ride, may as well :witch_brew:

I see 4 members who are still on the site, Freebird, Black Owl, Boo, and Reiny Rooster. I didn't join the site until a couple of years after, prior to the great crash. Unfortunately we can't access the membership list but I would love to see who is still here and who isn't...

I joined in Oct./04 shortly after I bought my first RSV. It was a lot easier to remember all the members names back then. Now old age has set in.

Folks who were part of VR before the site went down should have the letters "BC" after their displayed join date, BC meaning Before Crash of course.. People who became members after that disaster should have an "AD" displayed after their join date, meaning After Disaster of course... :backinmyday:

The problem with that Puc is that EVERYTHING was lost with the great crash! All of us had to reregister...

Yea, devils aways in the details Bongo... I am not a details kinda guy but one way it could be done is all those who reregistered within the first month after BC could get the mighty BC stamp.... Hey, its cold outside, may as well :stirthepot:

It used to show what number you were in the signup.............I was number 254 to join, but after the crash, that went away.

I know Jeff and Lewis both joined about a month apart. Like sept and oct of 2004. Was about 100 members after the first year I think.

Went home from the first Vogel and a few days later, no VR on the Web. I paniced and called several members then I called Don and he assured me he didnt shut it down............Thank God, think were we would be today if there was no Venturerider.

I joined right before the 1st Vogal, which was also before the big crash. Been addicted ever since.

I remember joining in February of '05, times were definitely different back then. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years this year, kind of cool

I joined up right after Memorial Day weekend having got my 05 just before the holiday. While some things have changed I do agree with Don in that the mission has remained the same. Never mind those :stirthepot:.
