The Tooch Posted January 5, 2014 #1 Posted January 5, 2014 Another group I ride with will be down in Tennessee in June and staying in Maryville for 3 days then we are going to head to Nashville for another 2-3 days. I'm looking for a Biker friendly Motel/Hotel for about 12 - 30 of us in Nashville. (Not sure yet how many are going to head to Nashville for sure at this point.) safe for us & the bikes and close to things to do & see? (Cheap but clean would be nice!) Also any recommendations of must see's & do's in the area. I'm looking for tips on were to start looking, if I get suggestions I will do some research and check out what I can. Thanks in advance for any info. Dave.
Gary N. Posted January 5, 2014 #2 Posted January 5, 2014 Try Fiddlers Inn on Music Valley Drive. Close to the Opry. John A's is right across the street too. You can get a shuttle to take you down town for $10/person round trip. We were there for New Years Eve and had a great time.
alwrmcusn Posted January 5, 2014 #3 Posted January 5, 2014 Check with "Wild Bill" Pegram in STAR Chapter 419. He or someone there should be able to provide you with all the info on the area. Check at http://startouring.org/ and click on the Chapter List for Tennessee. Also the STAR KY/TN Ambassador (Jerry Mefford) may be able to provide some info. TNKYSA@startouring.org And while I'm not that familiar with Nashville, I am on the road (I-40 or Hwy 70) between Maryville and Nashville and if I'm available I'll help if I can. Hwy 70 is a great bike road at least down to Carthage, TN. I've not ridden it beyond there.
b2dad Posted January 6, 2014 #4 Posted January 6, 2014 We are about 2 hrs NW of Nashville. The list of things to do & see is a mile long. Our favorite place to eat though is Loveless Cafe. It's actually right outside of Nashville to the west off I 40. The best breakfast, lunch or dinner. Take your pick. There is of course the grand ole Opry. The opryland hotel is also something to see. The actual hotel is way overpriced but there is lots to see inside. Try the Parthenon. That is pretty cool. Jack Daniels Distillery is to the south. Even if you don't drink, it's an awesome tour for free. Give me some time, I will think of more. Monty lives not far from there. He would know some good places to stay.
RandyR Posted January 6, 2014 #5 Posted January 6, 2014 I usually stay at one of the 2 Motel-6s just south of downtown by the airport. Anything walking distance to downtown is not going to be cheap.
The Tooch Posted January 6, 2014 Author #6 Posted January 6, 2014 Give me some time, I will think of more. Thanks Patti I knew you would come through......just to let you know we did sort of meet at Freebird's MD last year.......But Don (B2Dad) and I had a good chat at Marcal's M.E. last year. He had me talked into coming down for your M.E. this year but that was before I knew the guys had planned this trip for Tennessee in June this year. I can't really afford to do both and I am disappointed I won't make your M.E. (Maybe next time!) Thanks again for the info.
b2dad Posted January 7, 2014 #7 Posted January 7, 2014 You're not coming to OUR meet n eat? Throwing us over for a bunch of "guys" that I may or may not know? Thanks alot!!! LOL I really hope you have fun on your trip and if you want more things to choose from, let me know. If you are with a "bunch of guys" then you definitely want to check out Jack Daniels. It really is a cool place. I just can't recommend anyplace good to stay because I don't stay in Nashville, except at my sisters. Not enough room for more than a couple of you there. sorry! But you really should check out Loveless Cafe, too. Those are the top two places around Nashville. At least call us or let us know when you will be in Nashville and maybe we can meet up one day. Patti PS. I THOUGHT I remembered meeting you at MD last year. There is always so much going on and so many people...I should take a book around and have everyone sign it so I will know who I met. Hmm....thinking about that idea....
The Tooch Posted January 7, 2014 Author #8 Posted January 7, 2014 Patti that book idea sounds great, you should number each signature and then take a picture. Then you would have a face to go with the name. Here is a picture of ME!"................and the other guys I ride with. And no your sister wouldn't want to put up with this lot.

The Tooch Posted January 8, 2014 Author #11 Posted January 8, 2014 Thats a good size group of riders ya got going there Tooch, and a real nice variety of bikes too!! Cool on ya brother!! Do you guys all wear purple helmets?? You the only VR member in the group? I will keep my eyes out for your group this summer - be fun to bump into ya'll along the trail... Puc The group was a bunch of guys who had worked together and gone on rides together off and on for years. Might only be 2 or 3 guys one time and maybe as many as 12 the next but one guy was always there, Mark! So a whole bunch of different guys had ridden with Mark over the years here and there. Mark always organized the trip and was the navigator. (Before the days of GPS & after.) So he became, "MAP MAN" Well Map Man was headed home one night and an elderly gentleman in his pickup missed a stop sign and hit Map Man broad side, he died on impact. All his old ride'n buddies decided we had to do some thing to carry on his memory so we started the Map Man Memorial Ride. This years trip to Tennessee is year 3. Now the purple helmet thing.......that was Map Man as well. He liked to push it, long rides, hours in the saddle. Some would say an iron butt, other's might say......Purple Helmets – Ride Hard (and Ride Safe) Trying to keep this PG.....so no we do not wear purple Safety Head Ware! :whistling:
Max Posted January 8, 2014 #12 Posted January 8, 2014 I'm looking for a Biker friendly Motel/Hotel for about 12 - 30 of us in Nashville. (Not sure yet how many are going to head to Nashville for sure at this point.)(Cheap but clean would be nice!) Wife and I stayed a couple of nights at the Comfort Inn on 1501 Demonbreun Street two years ago enroute to Memphis. It was one of the only hotels we found at the time under 100 buks, pool, ok rooms, within 20 min. walk close proximity to downtown. safe for us & the bikes No prob with bike parking for that time frame and there were a few other bikes around the lot. I've never had issues with safety over 40 years,, but then again, a lot of dumb luck has probably gone a long way.
