Late Christmas Present.............

I went out and bought myself a late Xmas present yesterday. I already have 2 hi point semi-auto pistols, one 9 mm, and a 45 acp. They also make pistol caliber carbines, and after reading all the reviews I went and purchased one in 9 mm. Its a awesome weapon, small only 31 inches long, I added a Red Dot sight to it and got a couple of 15 rd mags coming. Jamie and I will be trying it out tomorrow (Sat.) Cant wait to shoot it, haven't read a bad review of it yet. This is my very first long gun, if you can call it that. It may not win any beauty contest but as long as it throws lead downrange, that's what counts. If anyone here has one I would love to hear your thoughts on it. The pictures are stock pics, the one in the box is how I got it, and I had them add the scope at the shop. With the gun, scope, and a soft carrying case I came in under $350.00. Quite a deal in my eyes, you cant touch any other carbine in any caliber for that price.

Mine is a 9 mm, plenty of it availabe cheap, they also make a s&w .40 and a 45 acp. they all look alike. The only drawback is 15 rds is the largest mag you can get. I picked up 3 for under $60.00 shipped to me.

Hey Lewis, CONGRATS!! My neighbor bought one identical to yours (it appears) a couple weeks ago, COOL SHOOTER!! His is a .40 cal - seems like around here the .40 ammo is easier/cheaper to come by.. I loved the weight (light) and also the price (got his for well under 400 bucks too) AND, if memory serves me correctly, those are also American made,,, seems like made in Ohio or something?? Cant remember the brand name but it seems like it was a short name, company fairly new to the market..

You think thats wise putting a loaded gun in Jamies hands? Tell em Puc said "hey"..

Lifetime warranty, no matter who owns the gun, warranty is transferable. They will even rebuild it if you wear it out, no questions asked............that's customer service.

You got a point there, but with me its more about protection than hunting, so therefore 9 mm is the way to go for me. Plentiful ammo available cheap here. I only have to have 3 calibers for all my handguns and my carbine. 380, 9 mm, and 45 acp. The clips for the 9 mm pistol and the carbine are interchangeable, well not totally, the carbine will work in the pistol, but the 8 and 10 rd mags wont work in the pistol, but the 15 rd, mags are.

I have had the same Hi-Point 9mm carbine for 3 or 4 years. I love it. Have never had a problem with it with stock mags. I got mine for right at $200 brand new at a gun show. We have sent several thousand rounds through it and no complaints yet. I will say though that I hope you have better luck with the 15 round mags than me. I could not get the 15 round mags to feed right. Tried several of them and never got a whole mag to feed. I went and bought about 5 more 10 rounders instead. I have never had one problem with the 10 rounders.

 

People complain about Hi Points and say they are junk. I have several of them and love them. Never had a problem with any of them and for the price and warranty, you can't go wrong. I have several supposedly higher quality pistols, but I honestly enjoy shooting the Hi Points just as much if not more.

I have one, with the red dot scope like yours.

It's a coarse weapon, but I've never had a jam, and it's reasonably accurate to 50 yards or so.

I keep it around as a groundhog gun 'cause I don't have to worry as much about a stray bullet going through a neighbors house. (rural area,....neighbors are a good ways away)

 

All in all I'm happy with it, and it'll be a great weapon if that zombie apocalypse ever happens.

The only people that have anything bad to say are the gun snobs who look down their nose at inexpensive weapons, they have never owned one, let alone shot one. Go on YouTube and look at the reviews, hard to find one with much bad to say, most are surprised at how accurate and well made they are. Most are hoping for problems, ftf, jams, stovepipes, and some get them but it's usually with reloads or really cheap ammunition, they say they wont feed steel cased bullets, so I bought some 9 mm with steel cases really cheap, like $9.00 a box just to see if its as bad as they say, as for brass, never had a problem, I will also be testing all my hi points with hollow points to see how they do. I have no problem using fmj, they will stop someone if you put a couple or three in them. All in all I am sold on Hi Points. They are inexpensive start at about $159.00,for the 380, $179.00 for the 9MM and $189.00 for the .40, and 199.00 for the .45. They have a lifetime warranty, no questions asked, even if you use if for a club and break part of it they fix it under the warranty. What other gun manufacter does that, and they usually turn them around in about 2 weeks, and if they cant fix it, you get a brand new one to replace it. Thats the way all companies should work, and thats the main reason I bought them. Its a gun that if you loose it, your not out a fistful of dollars to replace it. Loose your Kimber, Desert Eagle or any other high dollar weapon and you feel it.

 

Now there is one gun I wish I still had and that was a Colt Commander 38 Super, they are rare and worth quite a lot, but I sold it back in 85, cause we needed the cash more than the gun. Now that gun is worth about $1200.00. Every time I mention that gun to someone, the first thing they ask me is if I still have it. One dealer offered me $1100.00 dollars for it before I could tell him I didn't have it..................Talk about sellers remorse, I only paid $250.00 and a Ruger Single Security Six .22 mag pistol with a western holster and belt setup. Kinda wish I still had that one too.:bang head:

 

Hopefully, today, going out to put the carbine to the test, cant wait. I was going to go outdoors to do it, but its too cold for that, going to the firing range instead.

Well, I am back from the firing range. I should have left the original sites on the gun as it comes out of the box, but the dealer installed the red dot on it me, so my bad. I would have loved to have fired it using the stock sites but, I thought why not, I don't want to screw it up, but he didnt take the front sights off, so I guess thats what was me screwing up trying to site it in. I am not impressed with the red dot sight, so here is, with the red dot I kept shooting low/left it seemed no matter what adjustment I made it didn't help. I was able to adjust and hit what I aimed at, so all in all the gun is good. As soon as I got home I took the red dot off and put the factory sight back on, they are adjustable for windage and elevation and will try later with them, seems to be a lot easier to sight it in with them than the red dot. I put about 100 rds. through it and like the way if felt, very little recoil and no jams or ftf. Rapid fire was not a problem, so I cant wait for my 15 rd mags to get here. I used steel cased 9 mm and brass cased 9 mm. Someone said the steel cases would jam in the pistol, but I fired them in the carbine and the pistol without a problem. I really do like the gun and it drew a little attention at the firing range, in fact the couple next to me were shooting an AR15 in .223 or something very similar and they even watched while I was firing mine.

If your looking for a very in-expensive carbine that shoots cheap ammo, 9 mm, the only thing cheaper is .22 if you can find it, I highly recommend it. I would have done some video, but Jamie couldn't make it, so next time hopefully. Maybe somebody can give me some tips, because this is my first rifle, and I am loving it.:thumbsup:
